curlytoot reacted to SF1_freeze in John Williams Upbeat / Feelgood Music
I want to continue my search for the best John Williams tracks of each of his music types/styles (Action Music, Adventure Music, Downbeat/Sad Music, Romantic/Love Music,...).

If someone would ask you for a John Williams playlist of his best Upbeat / Positive / Feel Good music, which tracks would you choose?

My random order of John Williams best Upbeat / Feel Good music would be:

    01) "Journey to the Island" (From Jurassic Park)
    02) "Space Camp" (From Space Camp)
    03) "To Charleston" (From The Patriot)
    04) "Throne Room and Finale" (From Star Wars)
    05) "Return to the Village / Raiders March" (From Temple of Doom)
    06) "Rouge City" (From Artificial Intelligence)
    07) "Jim's New Life" (From Empire of the Sun)
    08) "The Flying Sequence" (From Hook)
    09) "Short Round's Theme" (From Temple of Doom)
    10) "Olympic Fanfare and Theme" (Comissioned for the Los Angeles ’84 Olympic Games)
    11) "Follow Me" (From Always)
    12) "Doctor, Lawyer, Lutheran" (From Catch Me If You Can)
    13) "Main Title" (From Star Wars)
    14) "Entry into the Great Hall" (From Harry Potter 1)
    15) "Arrival in New York" (From Home Alone 2)
    16) "The Open Sea" (From Jaws 2)
    17) "Banning Back Home (Film Version)" (From Hook)
    18) "Snowy's Theme" (From Tintin)

    - First shot as the new Star Destroyer's shadow covers Jakku and the brass rises (Main Titles and Attack on Jakku Village at 1:37)

    - Rey making her dinner and the beautiful flute and harp of her theme come in (The Scavenger at 2:54)

-Rey saying how she didn't think there was that much green in the whole galaxy as the Falcon comes in to land (Finn's Confession at 0:47)

    - Poe on his badass annihilation run with his theme blasting out in full glory. (FYC track - The Resistance at 1:03)

    - Ren doing his evil walk to go get Rey from the interrogation room (On the Inside at 0:45)

    - Burning Homestead as Rey catches the lightsaber. (I think it makes the scene more powerful and didn't bother me that it was lifted from ANH)

    - When the Falcon flew away from Jakku and into space. (The Falcon at 3:14)

One that stands out in my mind and haven't seen mentioned is the build-up to the arrival of Kylo Ren.

For the first time in the saga, stormtroopers are shown to be the formidable fighting force we've been always been told they are. The moment I'm talking about really starts once the wave of stormtroopers starts taking significant causalities, and Finn recoils from the horror around him. In one of the film's most memorable images, a blooded hand from a dying comrade slides down Finn's helmet,  At this point the score climbs to a fever pitch as out of the blackened clouds, Kylo Ren's shuttle raises its wings to land. Williams's motif with its triplet fanfares and cyclic string runs suggesting a man-monster, cutting through the fear in his troops. While technically none of this new (stylistically you could say it points to Nixon, The Patriot and RotS), dramatically this is dead on. Beyond badass.

I've been breaking it down, comparing it, organizing it, and listining to it since the early hours of this morning. The more I listen to the digital remasters for the original trilogy the more I fall in love with it. It's like rediscovering something I didn't know I really really missed.

That is SO irresponsible of Irwin. Did he not realise that ankle high socks don't protect your legs from giant mosquito bites?!

No problem. I can't do it often but sometimes things like these, I love to pay a lot of money for them and then share them, it's kinda what I do $400 so everyone can enjoy a lossless and expanded soundtrack to an iconic movie? Worth it.

Oh, I haven't listened to the SEs in the new CD collection; I assume those sound exactly the same as before.  Just like the prequels probably sound identical to before.

I've listened to the LP program remasters from the Digital Collection they are selling.  Those sound GREAT!

I couldn't disagree more.  TFA has some of the most ballsy action music Williams has written in many, many years.

Actually, I recently made a playlist of Williams in "playful" mode. Here are a few that I think will float your boat:

    Follow Me from Always
Isabelle's Horse & Buggy from Stepmom
"Festivity at Thornfield" and "To Thornfield" from Jane Eyre
The Snowball Fight from Harry Potter 3 - It's the second half of a track. I separated it from the Womping Willow piece that precedes it on the OST.
"The Fighting Donellys" "Blowing Off Steam", "Fighting For Dough", and "Oklahoma Territory" from Far & Away. The re-imagined 'Theme' for solo violin that Williams recorded a few years later also fits the bill - the energetic first half at least.
Tourists on the Menu from Jaws
Going To School from Memoirs of a Geisha
Making the Plane from Home Alone
All three of the instrumental pieces in the 18-minute Reivers suite. I've named them "The First Car in Town", "Hightailing it for Memphis" and "The Horse Race"
    Come Phil from Heartbeeps
"Training with George" and "George Sets the Pace" from The Eiger Sanction
    Great Performances Theme
"Popular Entertainment" and "Arts and Sports" from American Journey
The Float from Catch Me If You Can
Presenting the Hook from Hook - I prefer the shorter OST version over the expanded release.
Arrival in New York from Home Alone 2 - again, I prefer the shorter OST version
Luke's Rescue from The Empire Strikes back
    Reunion in Italy from Monsignor
Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra from Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
"The Adventure Continues" and "Snowy's Theme" from Tintin
Short Round's Theme from Indian Jones and The Temple of Doom
"Jim's New Life" I know you mentioned that, but I prefer the slower (it took me a while to get used to the tempo) concert version.
    To Charleston from The Patriot
Seeding and Horse Vs Car from War Horse - at least the second half.
    Amazing Stories Theme
The Forest Battle from Return of the Jedi (concert version)
The Tale Of Viktor Navorski from The Terminal
