The Big Match Alternate has such a good opening. Hard to say which one I like better.

SW: pretty much everything there beside the non-faded-out ending of Cantina Band 2 and an original Credits bit that was replaced. Sound is less than ideal in many places, better than the demaster here and there.

Empire: close to everything there but arranged weirdly (alternates in main program in a random place, insert not actually replacing the stuff it was written to replace, just plopped after it then the original piece continues), sound is varying but not great overall, for some cues they just used the Anthology mix because work is hard.

Jedi: stuff missing, same alternate/insert problems as Empire, sound sucks all kinds of ass.

That they haven't bothered to replace and better these messy rushjobs in 23 years is a disgrace, that they reisued them twice with no improvement but taking away even liner notes is like a spit in the face and a middle finger in addition.

Listened to first half of disc 1. The sound quality is absolutely amazing. I can see why Running Away went unused, though, and Am I Beautiful really grew on me.

He would refuse. There's no way he'd waste time on such crap. He'd pick up the phone and shout that Man of Steel and The Prestige need his treatment first.

All three Harry Potter scores were fully mastered by him in 5 1, then made into stereo for the final CD masters

No, I just like it. Some scores, such as this one, I discover through the expansion without being very familiar with the OST already.

I would talk exclusively about completely unreleased JW scores, and if any initiative has been made to have them released -- in fact, I asked him about this during the Q&A in London two years ago, but we only got into a couple of titles. There is so much more.

Yeah, the usual interviews on the past couple years of sets with deeper dives than the podcasts are way overdue!

Now would be the perfect time for an interview with Mike. We need a thread where members can post questions to him!

    Correct.
All Bond films, from DR. NO  to THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, were remixed in 5.1, especially for the D.V.D. (and subsequent Blu Ray) releases.
From THE SPY WHO LOVED ME onwards, the Bond films were in multichannel, and it is those mixes which were retained for the D.V.D.s/Blu Rays.
Make no mistake: THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is definitely in 5.1
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Officially, the first Bond film released in stereo, at the cinema, was ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, but the first Bond film to be mixed in 5.1 for D.V.D., was THUNDERBALL. This all happened on a previous release, when all other Bond films from DR. NO to THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN retained their original mono mixes. Strange, that, isn't it.

    Excuse me Alex?!
I was not 6 when I watched the Dalton Bonds. I wasn't even 6 when I saw my first Bond film, at the cinema.

Although Dalton will always be my favourite Bond, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, is, IMO, the best all-round Bond film. It's wildly entertaining, and it's clear that, after THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, EON had a rethink about what makes a good Bond film. The switch back to 2.35:1 didn't hurt, either. It's pure spectacle.

IT'S THE BIGGEST IT'S THE BEST IT'S BOND AND BEYOND

The entire Bond series was released on D.V.D., in the 00s, each one as a 2-disc set, and each one with remastered sound and picture.
I'd recommend these. In addition, each film up to and including THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN has been remixed in 5.1.
Since THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, the original surround mix has been adhered to: no remixing. As for the Bond films that you are wanting: don't expect too much in dynamic 5.1. The Bond films have always sounded...adequate...when it comes to sound.
IMO, the best sounding Bond film, is TOMORROW NEVER DIES - and it has a 5.1 iso score.
