  1. 7:52 - 7:59 That horn + pizz celli voicing gives me wood everytime I hear it.
  2. No shit, Sherloert. If you wrote that mainly so you could use that pun, I forgive you. Otherwise, prepare for a good boallocking.
  3. I'm pretty sure it was a parody... The arrangement in the second video is the proper one.
  4. Here's a little something I composed for the piano not too long ago: Sheet music can be downloaded here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18637418/impromptuinc_tomekkobialka.pdf
  5. I laughed out loud when you played those "drums"! The rescored version is amazing, and much more interesting than the stuff we've heard already (to me at least). And it actually works with the trailer really well, unlike some other attempts. Awesome job!
  6. Nice turkey! Happy Thanksgiving, you bloody geniuses.
  7. Temple of Doom, 1 GAZILLION percent! While I'm a big fan of all Indy scores by Williams, Temple of Doom stands out to me as the most exciting, the most varied, the most fluid, and overall, the most fun. It's my favourite JW score actually. I always find myself returning to it. If anybody ever were to ask me, "Show me the best action film music you've ever heard", I'd undoubtedly pull out this score. It is a real shame, though, that the fairly-recent "expanded release" contains about 98% of all the music from the film, which means we will have to wait some 50 years to actually get all the material! The music that plays during Indy's possession, the percussion loop at the bridge, are all just as worthy of getting an official release!
  8. My favourite part from the PAN soundtrack is the little ping! at the very end!
  9. Can't wait for the premiere on 6th March! Btw, out of interest, this article says: I seem to remember hearing about a gospel choir in an interview once...but I can't remember if it was related to this! In fact, I heard from another source that they also managed to record some suites from Powell's films (Powell definitely mentioned this before). Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on that CD. The more music the better, I say!
  10. RIP Eric "Dr. T" Tomlinson. Your work on the Star Wars OT soundtracks was remarkable and really helped bring the best out of Johnny's score.
  11. An arrangement for DOTF already exists, and was written by Williams as a bonus track for the upcoming Episode I Sony Ultimate Edition soundtrack:
  12. Can anyone find a classical precedent for the section between 0:30 and 0:36 of this track: In particular the prominent usage of percussion and the sliding tuttis. I'm not really sure if it's that "classical" in the first place, but it's a section of music that's intrigued me for some time.
  13. My personal favourite is the couple of repeated statements in the beginning of "The Rebels Escape" from TESB (0:33 and 1:07) - it's like being in a nightmare, and every now and again you take a glance over your shoulder to see the monster chasing you!
  14. Sounds great! And it's 99.9% Williams to my ears. Reminds me of a similar rhythm he did in the Temple of Doom track "Saving Willie" (start at 1:05):
  15. I swear, if they release a piece of music on these "playlists" which is overlayed with SFX and which DOES NOT appear standalone on the soundtrack album...I will be very, VERY angry (and I imagine many others will be too!).

Compare this (0:09, Imperial March melody) to this (2:14)
  17. Pretty much every action scene...every now and again you hear some trumpets, otherwise all we hear is PYOW PYOW PYOW!!!! PYOW!!!!!!! BBBZZZZZZZRRRRR!!!! PYOW PYOW PYOW PYOW!!!!! *2 sec of trumpets* PYOW!!!! BZZZR!!!! BZZZZRR!!!! KRSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......."
  18. Would love to get this but it's too expensive for me currently...might have to get it second-hand!
  19. In terms of reverb I used RC 48, but only very lightly (the original samples were pretty wet already). Apart from that I just set volumes so that the wind wasn't too loud (as is almost always the case...)
  20. Been listening to some Italian opera lately...particularly Puccini's Turandot! I love the ending of Act 1 (from 28:11).
