  1. Premiere: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
  2. Pretty soon Disney will probably order Shazam to take it all down lol
  3. Maybe "A New Home" is actually a separate track from the end credits, then, since I assume it would say "& Finale" otherwise...
  4. Wow thanks! So looks like the OST probably won't be drastically different from the FYC, unfortunately, although there will definitely be some new segments that replace the parts of the FYC that aren't included.
  5. I can confirm that "Prologue" registers as "Journey to Exegol" and "Fanfare And Prologue," for the beginning and end of the FYC track respectively. "We Go Together" is apparently on the OST. EDIT: I posted this before I realized Jay had checked as well. More confirmation I guess!
  6. Hmm, "hosting" again, that's not a great sign... Although he did conduct several pieces last time anyway.
  7. ^This. I am dearly, dearly hoping that are more awesome themes or cues not represented on the FYC, but on the other hand I can't help but feel pessimistic - why would the best new cues be left off the FYC?
  8. To expand on my earlier remarks after listening several more times: I do agree with those who have said that this album is massively underwhelming. Great themes appear once or twice and then disappear, and it's hard to spot any sort of real thematic arc. Most of it sounds quite dark, and sounds absolutely nothing like I would have expected a grand finale film score to sound. There is almost (almost) no sense of finality or closure. That said, there are some really, really terrific moments here which showcase once again how John is an absolute master of his craft. I mentioned some of them earlier, so I won't repeat myself now. But I'll just say that I'm at once very, very pleased with some of what I've heard but also desperately hoping (like Loert & KM) that this FYC is a highly incomplete presentation of the score -- even though part of me is also preparing to be disappointed. *sigh*
  9. OK. I just finished an exciting first listen. I do dearly hope that the OST, freed from awards constraints, is stronger. This FYC felt mostly like random bits of underscore, and for the most part didn't feel like a satisfying end to a nine-film (or even 3-film) saga. BUT.... OH MY GOSH "We Go Together" and "Farewell" are beautiful And there are some other great moments I can't remember off the top of my head! Time for listen #2.
  10. Saw this again yesterday! (My school's choir was performing this time, so I wanted to go!) Gosh, I'd forgotten how awesome JW's "Listening to Carson" extension to end the first act is. Pure JW fanfaric awesomeness. I desperately want to hear it again... Maybe someone will manage to make a phone recording at some point.
  11. Totally. I want that so badly even though it probably won't happen.
  12. @Cerebral Cortex, good find. I knew it sounded similar to something from TESB but couldn't place it.
  13. I just watched that and immediately came over here. For the first half of the spot I remained agnostic but by the end of it I was feeling pretty sure this was JW. Two factors sealed it for me: 1) There are no old SW themes, which is very unusual - in fact I can't think of a single other SW TV spot EVER (of 30 sec. length or longer) that did not contain any past SW themes in some variation. 2) The action part in the middle sounds like JW's frenetic action writing. It does not sound very much like ordinary trailer stock music. That was actually what struck me most about this spot, even before I realized it might be JW: "What a weird musical choice for a TV spot!" It was not at all the sound I was expecting. I know I will look stupid if I'm wrong here, but what the heck. I think it's him.

Ah, this explains it: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10370456/soundtrack?ref_=tt_trv_snd (soundtrack apparently will use bits of Jaws, Indiana Jones, etc., at least according to whoever added to the IMDB)
  15. Glad Endgame and Mary Poppins got nominations! ... although the lack of Hidden World is an absolute travesty.
  16. WOAH - I hadn't noticed Rose's theme at all but it does indeed appear to be a (somewhat disguised) variation of that theme! (I already thought this was JW, but I suppose this is even more evidence in favor!!)
  17. I'll probably end up looking stupid for saying this but... I think it's Williams. The only part I'm a bit doubtful of is the last few seconds. The first part sounds like pure JW sequel trilogy to me.
  18. Then again, the second video was obviously either JW or in-house/specially commissioned, since it used a new variation of "Jedi Steps." My best guess on that one was rejected trailer cue by the guy who did the TROS trailer.
  19. Okay, so I've been listening to "Scheherazade" recently after a friend recommended it. Several parts sound very similar to some piece(s) by John Powell, but I can't quite remember which one(s). E.g.: Maybe this is what I'm thinking of, but I feel like there's got to be something closer: @Loert, any ideas? (Or maybe I am the only one who hears similarity from Powell to Rimsky-Korsakov)
