  1. Good. Just ordered my copy this afternoon. The BFG will be the second Williams score released since I become a serious JW fan. For TFA, I listened to the OST (and FYC, actually) before seeing the film. I found that it was great to already be familiar with the score going in. But this time I think I will try watching the film first (assuming my schedule works out so that I can see the film on the release date or at most one or two days after; I can't wait any longer).
  2. Unrelated, but what is the music in your signature?
  3. An LA Times article by Tim Greiving about the score (it includes comments from Newman and director Andrew Stanton): http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-thomas-newman-finding-dory-20160603-snap-story.html After reading that piece, I decided to listen to a couple more tracks from the album. I must say, this score's better than I was giving Newman credit for initially. The couple tracks I listened to originally were not sufficiently representative of the score, it seems.
  4. Just watched the interview, and I am now even more excited for this score! The best of Giacchino's adventurous/fun Star Trek music (like the Into Darkness opening) is IMO Williams-quality material. Could Beyond be Giacchino's best score yet?
  5. Well, it seems that the "Overture" is really short, which is a bit of a disappointment. But with the 10-minute "Dream Country" and 8-minute end credits cue ... this is gonna be awesome!
  6. :56-1:00 Was watching the film for the second time today and noticed this awesome Giacchino moment. If I remember correctly it perfectly accompanies the on-screen action -- Joy and Bing-Bong landing back on the ground at the bottom of the subconscious pit after nearly escaping the pit on the wagon.
  7. What!? They couldn't even leave that intact!? Well, perhaps the broadcasters took a cue from Williams' OST building -- editing for a questionably better listening experience. Anyway, I finally watched the program this afternoon. The opening was cheesy but after that it was really great! Mostly the same old stories, but still nice to take a look back at a wonderful career! Can't get over Harrison Ford's appearance. Is he growing that facial hair for a movie? He looks so different from during TFA production!
  8. 2:25-2:40 It's been playing on repeat in my head since morning!
  9. Sounds great! Unfortunately for Desplat, this July 1 release will probably be overshadowed by Williams's same-day The BFG release, which will almost certainly be the best feature film score of 2016. Pets seems like a score that will probably deserve attention and in any other week it would probably get it.
  10. Well, I've only listened to a couple cues, but so far this sounds mostly unimpressive. Pleasant, but largely ambient noise, at least in the bits I heard.
  11. My reaction too! A "galop" was specifically what was mentioned in the JKMS tweet.
  12. More TV spots. Definitely no Williams music at all in the second, first and third have very short moments that could possibly be him -- watch the videos and judge for yourself.
  13. Yeah, that's what I fear. West Side Story could make a great Williams score, but an adapting role is more likely what will happen.
  14. Indeed. Edgardo Mortara sounds more interesting to me, so I think it is good news if he has chosen that over It's What I Do. West Side Story could make for some fantastic Williams music! IMO it depends on whether Spielberg just wants to reuse all the old songs, or whether he wants Williams to write some new ones. I think if Williams did write some original songs, this could be a really unique and incredible project!
  15. Well, it's true that large parts of the Cannes music don't sound too much like Hook, but particularly the bit heard when Spielberg and the actors walk outside after the screening reminds me of that score. Honestly right now it's The BFG I'm most excited for -- it's so close to release! -- but in the long term I'd say it's his two Star Wars scores I'm most looking forward to (I voted for VIII in the poll since you can only pick one). I absolutely fell in love with the TFA score -- IMO it's Williams' best SW score yet.
  16. No. And much of it isn't even Williams, just generic trailer stuff By the way, IGN has posted a video of the game demo that went live today: There's no commentary, so you can hear the music pretty well, although SFX is really loud I'm pretty sure all music heard is on TFA OST
  17. Going through my head all morning: Alexander Courage's Star Trek theme, as heard in "To Boldly Go" on Giacchino's 1st Trek OST
  18. At the very least, you have to admit Rylance sounded great, right? There was a remarkable tenderness to his lines in the trailer.
  19. Clearly. EDIT: Apparently JW challenged this guy to the fight on March 2. He must have won, since he looked pretty much intact at the AFI thing! He probably cheated by bringing his henchmen -- J.J. baby, Steven, George, and Kobe.
