BPO have an academy, and JW is certainly a motivation for younger colleagues to give their best, which they obviously did. I mean that flautist was just excellent! I think we shouldn't bother too much about not having had "the best formation" - whatever that is. I can remember even such estemed soloists messing-up on their golden instruments, e.g. on New Year's Eve under Abbado. That can always happen. So let's get off that high horse regarding the BPO line-up. The cherry-picking Karajan era is hopefully over.

I'm wondering whether the artificial "Nachhallzeit" after Superman was calculated to resemble the actual acoustics of the Berliner Philharmonie without audience.

In theory, you would be allowed to watch John Williams in Berlin as a fetus.

The DG Vienna releases came with bilingual booklets - English, German. Not sure about Blu-ray regions, but today's players seem to cope with discs from around the world.
