  1. No sign of I Am The Senate either, I see...
  2. I love it, but then I'm biased as The Black Hole is one of those major nostalgia movies for me. Came out when I was a kid, and was one of those handful of movies that HBO would repeat over and over and over back in their early days, just like Somewhere in Time, Seems Like Old Times, and even Krull a few years later. The score is typical John Barry. I've always loved the "haunting" main theme. As others may say, it does feel somewhat repetitive after a while. There are a couple of themes, but none of them are developed to any great extent, IMHO. The sound quality is excellent, however. For me, this was a must-buy, but your mileage may vary. (High Road to China is also enjoyable (and also a bit repetitive), but The Black Hole tops it for me, partly due to the nostalgia factor.)
  3. Hooray! Mine arrived today! Yep, blue bar here too. Not too bothered by it, it's the music I'm more interested it, but I can see why people might take issue with it.
  4. Me too! To the great annoyance of my wife, for some reason...
  5. I used to have the OST way back when, and ended up eventually getting rid of it, since it really didn't do anything for me, and felt really repetitive, IMHO. However... the LLL release is just fantastic. It really changed my opinion of the score, maybe because it's expanded it has more variety, I don't know, but I'm a much bigger fan of the score than I used to be. And that's thanks to LLL. Your mileage may vary.
  6. .... And of course it doesn't show up before the weekend. Why do I even bother hoping anymore...
  7. You already got yours? Sweet! Hopefully mine'll show before the weekend... (I keep saying that with these purchases but they always show up on Monday...)
  8. Actually twice if you count that special that those kids wrote that's supposed to air. And The Impossible Astronaut. I love when he puts on the astronaut helmet in that episode. (And Silver Nemesis. But that doesn't count, does it? Even though he's holding a mop at the same time... )
  9. BBC axes Doctor Who Confidential... link Can't say I'm surprised, and I don't think I'm too upset about it. Though I will miss all the extra footage of Karen Gillan (who has claimed to be back next series in some capacity...).
  10. I think it is too, but I don't think it works the way the filmmakers intended. It just feels like "Hey we shot this in a studio!" IMHO.
  11. Been watching it since Season 1. The funniest and smartest sitcom I've seen in years. Definitely recommended. The cast is incredible, everyone is perfect.
  12. I'm thinking there's gonna be nothin' on this apart from the film. Maybe a trailer? (For the film itself, that is, not counting the 15 million previews Disney always seems to shove in our faces...) It always feels like one of those movies that Disney is kind of embarrassed by so they don't put much effort into it, sadly. Hopefully I'm wrong and there's a ton of good stuff on it, but I'm not hopeful. Yay, it's good to be back!
  13. It's more than 'for it to make sense'... it's to make it physically possible. The problem is that the future doctor is giving Rory the screwdriver, but how does the future doctor get into a position where he can give the screwdriver? It's a paradox that has no 'entrance'. I don't buy that sort. It's actually rather straightforward (IMHO, but then I love this kind of timey-wimey goofiness). These types of situations are sometimes easier to follow if you just focus on a particular person's timeline. For this example, the Doctor... The Doctor is trapped in the Pandorica. The Doctor gets freed. Later, the Doctor jumps back in time to give Rory the sonic screwdriver in order to release the (earlier) Doctor from the Pandorica. Or look at it from the sonic screwdriver's timeline. SS is trapped in the Pandorica with the Doctor. The Doctor (and the SS) are freed from the Pandorica. Doctor eventually jumps back in time and gives Rory the SS in order to open the Pandorica. Rory opens the Pandorica, Amy is placed in the Pandorica with the SS. Later, in the Museum, the Doctor retrieves the SS from Amy's pocket. It's not nearly as crazily paradoxical as the glasses from Star Trek II/Star Trek IV. "Weren't they a gift from Doctor McCoy?" "And they will be again, that's the beauty of it." In this case, the glasses were apparently never "created". Doctor McCoy bought them (supposedly from the same antique store though that's not necessarily the case) and gave them to Kirk, who went back in time and sold the to the antique store, who eventually sold them to Doctor McCoy... etc etc etc. The glasses are just in a loop. (One could argue that yes, the glasses were created at some point, but the crew going back in time in ST4 creates the paradox by jumping in and putting the glasses in a loop... though one could also argue that they're not the same pair of glasses after all, i.e. Kirk sells the glasses and eventually someone else buys them instead.) The Doctor's not in a loop, Rory's not in a loop, even the sonic screwdriver is not in a loop, so it's not quite the same thing. Perhaps it's "cheating" in terms of storytelling since it's moreso the *idea* that comes "out of nowhere", when the Doctor realizes how to get out of the Pandorica by actually getting out of the Pandorica... but mechanically and chronologically it works. It's just a bit twisty. (On a related but unrelated note, I love that there are 4 DeLoreans in 1955 at one point. )
  14. I adore The Black Hole, and would really love to hear the complete, remastered score. The iTunes release a few years ago was OK, but more music and better sound quality would rock.
  15. I agree it's too many episodes this season, I got worried when I first heard it was gonna be 10 episodes. 5 worked so damn well for Children of Earth. I have a feeling it could've worked for Miracle Day, too. In general, I think Miracle Day's been OK, it's had its ups and downs. The Bill Pullman speech didn't really work for me either, not sure exactly why, but it just didn't work. It's still better than some episodes from Series 1 and 2, though. And I'm sorry, but Eve Myles just cannot pull off any scene where she has to be overly emotional. She just cannot do it. She's fine when she's calm, when she's being funny or cheeky, but ask her to emote, and wow, does she not do it well at all.
  16. I've only seen the film once so far, but... in the scene where the gang are talking with Aberforth, is it me, or was there one close-up shot of Aberforth where it was actually Michael Gambon? I could've sworn that one shot (I think when they're looking at the picture of the sister) had Gambon done up as Aberforth, maybe as some sort of subjective Harry's-eye-view of him wishing it could be Albus come back to help him? Maybe I'm just crazy. I'll have to look again when the Blu-ray comes out.
  17. I've got a "smart" playlist in iTunes, called "Battle/Fight". It automatically takes any soundtrack tracks (genre: "Soundtrack") with certain words in the title (battle, fight, chase, war, duel, showdown, attack, etc.) There are some tracks that just don't quite live up to the playlist name, quieter tracks that just happen to have one of those keywords in the title, but for the most part, it works great. Big, exciting, energetic music. Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I thought I'd mention it.
  18. Ginny is very beautiful, Hermione is very attractive as well... If forced to choose between those too, I think I'd go with Ginny. But then there's Luna... Did anyone see Evanna Lynch at the London red carpet premiere thingy for Part 2? Holy effin' heck!
  19. Who, me? Melisandre looks good, Stannis... I don't know, that actor doesn't look as hard and tough as I picture Stannis to be. Davos and Maester Cressen should work pretty good, too. Give Stephen Dillane a chance. He is a terrific actor and I think he can pull of even such a terse role as Stannis. Oh, I'll give him a chance, no doubt about that. I have faith that he'll be fine, as the casting on this series has been fantastic overall. It's just a first impression from the few pictures I've seen of him that he didn't give off that tough, hard, grim vibe that I get from Stannis in the books. I'm sure he'll be great like everyone else has been.
  20. Who, me? Melisandre looks good, Stannis... I don't know, that actor doesn't look as hard and tough as I picture Stannis to be. Davos and Maester Cressen should work pretty good, too.
  21. The trailer for John Carter looks intriguing... apart from the long-haired non-entity of a lead actor with zero presence and who looks like a crappy Prince of Persia ripoff. Sorry, was that harsh?
