  1. I agree that she's more attractive with longer hair. And totally agree that she could put on a few pounds. I love her the way she is, but would really, really love her if she had more curves. Haven't listened to the Thor samples, but in general I've enjoyed some of Patrick Doyle's stuff, he can work a melody really well usually. This being an action movie (one assumes), it could be pretty decent. Have to sample it, at least.
  2. So very heartbreaking. Miss her already. :-(
  3. I quite like Superman Returns, too. As does my wife, which for some reason still perplexes me. I was sure she'd find it dull and boring. But we've caught it on TV a few times in the last couple of months and she's fine with sitting and watching it, even mentioning a couple of times how much she thinks it's really good. She likes how it ties in to the Chris Reeve films, even though she thinks those are a bit corny. And she really likes Brandon Routh as Superman, and not just because she thinks he's "eye candy". I think it does lose its way somewhat in the third act, but on the whole, it's a really well-made film, a loving homage to the original Donner film (Superman II not quite so much). And maybe it's too much of an homage to the Donner film, for a movie that was trying to catch a general (non-geek-fanboy) audience. But I still enjoy the heck out of it. Still wish they'd gotten a different Lois Lane, though. Ugh. The new film looks promising, though, so I hope things work out and everything comes together and it's a dynamite, fantastic, amazing movie. The new Superman seems OK, don't really know him. Lois Lane, *much* better choice than Kate Bosworth. Ma and Pa Kent... not a fan of Costner but yes to yummy Diane Lane! Zod... really don't know that actor either. Unknowns can be good and very surprising, so fingers crossed!
  4. She looks pretty hot in any movie.
  5. Well? What did everyone think? Will try to avoid spoilers... I think it tackled the source material extremely well, as much as a TV series can adapt such a massive, complex novel as GoT. New bits worked fine, the changes I noticed were OK too. I do wonder, however, how many people who have not read the books will walk away from this thinking it was very slow. It was a bit "quiet" for most of the middle right up to the ending of the episode. The tricky bit is, there's so much *good* stuff coming up that it'd be a shame for them to miss it all. I remember when I first read the book a few years ago thinking, this is interesting but let's get moving. Until... until the one *massive* plot twist somewhere in the middle-ish of the book. Which I think will be a fantastic twist for non-book fans watching the TV series, too. The cast felt really well-suited to their roles, so far. No one stood out as, "Hey, this person just does not work" for any particular role. I don't know why people were fretting so much about Mark Addy as the King. He was great! Even the kids did really well. Arya's gonna be fun. I hear some fans were also not keen on the fella playing Jamie Lannister, but I thought he did a fine job in such a tricky role. The music... meh. The main theme was OK, the opening title graphics were very cool stylistically. But not much of the incidental score stood out, apart from maybe when King Robert arrives at Winterfell. Anxiously awaiting the next 9 episodes! ...And the actress playing Danaerys...Yummy!
  6. I'm a bit scared that, at the moment, I'm anticipating Game of Thrones a bit more than Doctor Who. I've been a fan of Doctor Who since 1982, and only started reading A Song of Ice and Fire a year and a half ago. Maybe just because I've "been there, done that" with Doctor Who season premieres? I don't know. Or maybe just because GoT is only 5 days away, as opposed to 11 for Doctor Who. Either way, bring em' both on! I prefer a great TV series as opposed to all this waiting around.
  7. Debatable. The films she was in after that, before TPM, were minor roles in not-super-successful films. After TPM, she was headlining, or at least co-headlining, major films.
  8. Hmmmm... I'm not sure about that. What would you say her "big break" was, then? Without the prequels putting her name out there big-time, she might still be doing indie films left right and center, maybe with Oscar-type success, maybe not. I'd agree that she probably didn't make too many critics sit up and take notice with her performance in the prequels, but it made her a name, at least on a much higher level than she was before.
  9. I'm still looking forward to it! Glad to hear it's coming soon! Love this score, love the film!
  10. I did watch the first 15-ish minutes, and I gotta say, even though I knew what was coming, having read the first 2 books (so far!), I got major goosebumps at one specific point. Not gonna spoilerize it, but man, very well done. Agreed on the music, very "meh" so far. I hear the opening credits (not talking music) are pretty cool. BTW, Dish Network has a free HBO preview weekend the very weekend GoT debuts. Other providers may have it too but I can only say Dish for sure. Cannot wait! (Then 6 days later is the start of Series 6 (or 32) of Doctor Who! What a week!)
  11. Yeah, way too obvious and predictable. Zimmer? Seriously? You think we wouldn't see that as bogus right away? Better luck next time.
  12. 42/80. And there were about a half dozen more I *should* have been able to name. That was fun, thanks!
  13. Thanks to Robin over at the FSM board, otherwise I would've never seen this. Hooray! I loved loved loved this silly little cheesy show (not just because of the female lead played by Francesca Hunt... )! The music was part of the fun of the show. Yeah, at times it's very MV, but I still enjoyed it. I still can't believe that this is being released after all these years! Much less that whatever company that owns the rights to (at least one part of) the show acknowledges its existence. Also, a link to an interview with the album editor/liner notes writer Gergely Hubai, including some extended clips from the album: http://www.hans-zimm...=detail&id=1018 Shame about the cover, though. Yikes. Hopefully they make up for that with lots of yummy pics of Francesca in the booklet...
  14. I loved Ottman's "Superman Returns" score, he did really interesting things with the Williams material, and brought some new ideas of his own to the film. It is pretty clear when listening to the score what's Williams-based and what's Ottman-original (apart from the obvious themes, I mean), but that's fine with me. I saw part of the film again the other day, then decided to listen to the score later. There's some really beautiful, moody stuff in there, really evokes some strong emotions. I think we were lucky that he was as faithful as he was, he could have gone a completely different route, even if Singer wanted it to be a direct continuation of the Chris Reeve films. I'm sadly not looking forward to the new film, apart from a certain morbid curiosity, especially since the scuttlebutt says it's gonna completely ignore all the other films. Diane Lane, OK fine, Henry Cavill, he looks pretty good, Kevin Costner... ugh, could we get someone that could actually act, please? And from the trailers of Snyder's "Sucker Punch"... yikes. Thing looks like a videogame cutscene, just like Avatar. Ugh.
  15. I enjoyed "Space" and "Time" too. Lots of fun, for a good cause. Karen looking as gorgeous as ever, Rory being Rory, the Doctor as crazy as ever. Amazing how much naughtiness they can get away with in a "family" program. Sorry, "programme".
  16. I've never liked the muting (I hear it as more of a subito piano effect, but you know what I mean) in the End Title. It always sounds awkward, almost like the orchestra was making a mistake. Never understood what Jerry was trying to do with that, I can appreciate trying to vary it and do something different, but this change never worked for me.
  17. Um, no. But very much looking forward to this nonetheless. Agreed, they're much better than the LOTR books. IMHO, anyway.
  18. Warbeck has been replaced by Ramin Djawadi as composer... http://www.tvsquad.c...ame-of-thrones/ http://www.westeros....In_as_Composer/ Not super-familiar with either one, really. Still frickin' excited for the show, though!
  19. I'm dying to see "Game of Thrones" but it's not on til April!
  20. Loved "Clue". Always thought it was an underrated little gem. Some of the dialogue is just wonderfully witty. What I remember of the score (not having seen the film in a while) was fun and interesting. I'm seriously considering this. (And seeing as I have a bunch of "allowance" to make up what my wife's spent on her hobby in the last few months, I just might get it! )
  21. License to Kill is another score I just couldn't get into all that much. I usually enjoy Kamen's stuff, but maybe it was the crappy little amount we got on the soundtrack album that soured me towards it? I don't know. I think it works fine in the film itself, but yeah we needed more score on that soundtrack. Instead we got to "enjoy" crap like "Wedding Party". Ugh.
  22. OMG, you'd seriously want another Eric Serra? Instead of Arnold?? Yikes. I'd rather a Bond film sound like a Bond film, IMHO. You are, of course, entitled to your own humble opinion.
  23. I know it's supposed to be "Winter" Wipeout, but Jill was wearing waaaay too much on top last night. Just sayin'.
  24. Oh, sweet, cool! I wasn't aware of that!
  25. Parts of "Young Sherlock Holmes" feel very HP-ish. Not just the score, the film itself too.
