  1. Owen Lars is there too, right in the image of the video.
  2. Well, Kate MacKinnion is a lesbian ....
  3. Last Christmas was supposed to be her final episode, then at the last minute she changed her mind and reshot the ending (and gave Shona the heave-ho). Until there is an official press release by the BBC stating so, I can't believe she's leaving. She's already changed her mind once, she can do it again (though I wish she left when Smith did, I didn't like what they did to her character with Capaldi).
  4. They are on Karn, site of the Tom Baker classic The Brain of Morbius. The Eighth Doctor regenerated there during the special The Night of the Doctor back in 2013 featuring the female Sister of Karn that was in the video.
  5. Should have come to my town. Had a shooting (within a mile of my home unfortunately) as well as another guy stabbed in the heart yesterday. Just another day....
  6. Ditto!!I hope its done smarter than it seems right now. I don't get why they can't make a movie any more where Bond simply saves the world from some new villain while making wise cracks, gambling, and bedding numerous women. I don't get why they've all become so serious, and why all the plots all relate to him on a personal level. it's fine to do once in a while, but 4 films in a row? Maybe because fans of the Bond character, like myself are tired of the formula and welcome the return to the intrinsic and layered character that Fleming created and originally drew us to the character. I am a fan of many of the movies post Connery, but the 60s films are so much more interesting by and large because there were no expectations. The plot didn't have to hit certain points and follow some sort of checklist to be deemed good. The best Bond films were always by and large the ones that were different and didn't just follow the formula, so why do people like you want this type of thing back so much. There's nearly 20 films where Bond is simply a caricature, go and watch those if that's all you want from the character. Let those who enjoy the book version of the character enjoy what they've been doing. 'Nuff said.Yes. And some fans of the Bond characters, notice I don't apply my theory to ALL Bond fans like Wycket did, want to return to the things that made Bond a CINEMATIC phenomenon. And that wasn't too close to Ian Fleming. People who go watch Bond, who are fans of Ian Fleming, are a vast minority. I tried to make it clear I wanted Bond the character, the one we saw throughout the 60s films which was a fairly good representation of the character rather than the caricature he became starting with Diamonds Are Forever. Personally, I enjoy many Bond films from all the eras. The character itself is very interesting, but over time all was lost and he just became another superhero that couldn't get hurt. Dalton tried to bring back some actual vulnerabilities to the character, but he was still hampered by many of the things from the Moore franchise that began to define the franchise. Licence to Kill showed they were willing to move away from the comfort zone, but once GoldenEye came around things regressed and by the time Die Another Day came around, things had become a joke. The filmmakers lost touch with making a good film and were only concerned with hitting all the marks they needed to make a proper "Bond film." In an age where everyone seems to deride remakes and rehashes of old films, it still surprises me that so many want to return to the old Bond formula, as all that does is essentially remake the same few stories again and again such as Goldfinger being remade as A View to a Kill and You Only Live Twice being remade at least twice in both The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker (arguably Tomorrow Never Dies as well but that link is far more tenuous). Since Craig has come into the role, they've realized they can tell an interesting story without being dependent on following a formula. There are still call backs and qualities of the old series still alive and in play in the current films, but they are implemented much better than they have been in a long time and allow much more creativity and freedom for the filmmakers.

  8. I agree. We can learn what we need through interactions and dialogue, with flashbacks when necessary. Most people are familiar enough with DC characters more than Marvel anyway, so it allows more freedom than having to spend the first hour of a more retrending ground that's been told countless times before.
  9. Exactly, multiple worlds theory. Terminator has been doing that since T2, its only now that they are being more overt and using it to their advantage rather than simply, "Well, Judgement Day was always going to happen, so here's a bunch of Terminators. Run!" Ever since the time machine was used to send Reese and the Terminator back in time they been creating splinter timelines/universes.
  10. The Day of the Doctor did quite well in the US in the few showings it had, and Sherlock is arguably a bigger hit in the US than Who due to appealing to a larger demographic. Plenty of theaters do event showings, so I would not see a reason why Sherlock couldn't receive a US showing.
  11. The are episodes called "The Girl Who Died" followed by "The Woman Who Lived". I've just assumed that Williams is appearing in these episodes and the Doctor is simply shocked to see her alive. I don't really understand why people always want any new actress on the show to be one of the former female characters on the show.
  12. I don't see it as much alternate dimensions as alternate realities (think Back to the Future 2). Hell, at the end of Terminator 2 John should have disappeared as well as Uncle Bob. The fact that both continued to exist after the supposed destruction of Cyberdyne and supposedly stopping Judgement Day established a multiple worlds theory in of itself, whether Cameron intended to or not.
  13. At least they look like Scully and Mulder again. I still don't know what they hell they were thinking with I Want to Believe.
  14. I actually did a fan edit of Jackson's King Kong, and the first thing I did was turn the whole film black and white. It definitely helps make it seem a little more real, but there is definitely something wrong with these fully CGI scenes and environments. That will be why I continue to appreciate directors like JJ and Nolan who try their hardest to use CGI only when necessary. It definitely creates a more realistic experience that what most directors tend to do these days. Hopefully the next generation of filmmakers are aware of these problems and will strive to resolve them in future films.
  15. Spy was pretty funny, much better than any of the trailers made it out to be. Its a nice send-up of the spy genre and actually makes me feel a little better about the upcoming Ghostbusters. There's no way it'll ever replace the original, but it may be able to stand on its own.

Yeah, the show was just treading water waiting for The Winter Soldier to come out so they could really do the story they wanted. Those early episodes are worth it though, as the character interactions really are quite well done. Maybe not the best ever, but character allegiances seem to be ever in flux, and having that original build up that seemed wasteful has played dividends. Is the show as good as Flash or Arrow? Not at all, but its an interesting take on the spy/action genre with some nice wink and nods to the Marvel Universe thrown in.
  17. Could have fooled me with the Marvel logo on the posters. They are based on Marvel characters but are made with zero involvement of Marvel or any of their film department. At this point, the only Marvel properties that Disney/Marvel haven't regained are the X-Men and Fantastic 4. Spidey is still owned by Sony Pictures but Marvel are now co-producing the films in partnership with them.
  18. Most fans only hung around at the end for the same reason that most did for Dexter, because they had gone that far that they had to finish. Entourage was terrible the last few seasons, I can't imagine the movie is going to be any better.
  19. The magazine has been doing these "reunion" specials for the last few years, reuniting the cast for a couple of pics and a retrospective. I'm sure this is the most they'll be able to get Murray involved with the franchise, and the only reason he probably did this is because he has a movie and a mini-series out and it was good publicity.
  20. Except for Adele, but I think everyone knew that was going to happen. I hope its someone that's established and polished, not some new thing that we'll never hear about in five years time.
  21. A cyber head from the failed Invasion in 1968, actually.
  22. I was really hoping Missy was a clue for an evil, revenge driven Romana mad at the Doctor for using The Moment. Too bad that Big Finish uses her character so much as I think that would have been a great twist to see a long time companion become a big bad. Either way it was an enjoyable episode and I'm greatly anticipating the one hour finale.
  23. I think it has more to do with him being "too famous" and wanting to keep a low profile. Whether he is showing it at the moment or not, the Doctor always likes to wow people with the TARDIS.
  24. That or Scarlett really doesn't want to do a movie on her own. Renner is tied up with so many projects over the next number of years, and I'm sure now that she's a mom she doesn't want to be working as much as she has been.
  25. After In The Forest of the Night, the season finale is a two parter, so there's not much longer left. Man, this season has just flown by.
