There's 30 minutes of unreleased music in the film
I certainly trust your encyclopedic knowledge of these things, I just don’t remember it being that significant from when I did my isolated score. I thought it was like 10-15. Glad I’m wrong! -
YES!
It’s not a huge amount missing (I guess I could agree with the word “fair” abovebut I’ve wanted this in a complete program since I was young. It was a great OST and it will be a great C&C too. Just an absolute classic fantasy score! Hornerisms at their most endearing.
)Amazing to check another grail off the list.

Intrada's next title is coming Tuesday June 28th (so, up for sale Monday evening June 27th) and Roger has posted this about it:
"
For our title that comes out next week, choose your response now and see if you nail it...or you need to chose another option after it's announced. There is no penalty for changing your answer later.
1. Ordered!
2. I have no interest in this title, but happy for those that are.
3. Release of the year!
4. The original album was long enough. Pass
5. I never liked this composer and/or score but I'm coming into this thread to remind everyone I don't like the composer or this score because I like to stir things up and I need attention.
6. This is great, but is there a chance of [insert entirely unrelated score] getting released?
7. If this got released, then we must be getting [insert vaguely related score] next.
8. Another expansion? Why couldn't they release something entirely new that if it was easy to release would have been released already?
9. No original album program? Pass
10. I'm glad they didn't include the original album program.
11. Thanks for saving me money Intrada!
12. This was my holy grail! Thank you Intrada!"
Always the safest bet is I'll be Option 2

Getting nervous -- are we going to get an OBI WAN album this week or not?
It wouldn't release until Friday would be my bet.

And only a 15% (15!!) drop for Top Gun.
Crazy box office weekend all around.

Of the myriad temp copies of Randy Newman's The Natural, this one is pretty good.

Yep, missed that.

I'm seeing a lot of critics saying this is in contention for worst Pixar movie.

That Williams arrangement is kinda bad

I think my biggest problem with jazz of recent decades is that in public perception, and too often in reality, jazz is seen to have basically just two modes: relaxing background music or cerebral intellectual specialist music. Back in the classic jazz days it was music that communicated the full range of human emotions and even when it was complex it was accessible to everyone in feeling.

These next few days mark both the 30th anniversary of Batman Returns and the 25th of Batman and Robin.
I'm listening to both scores this morning and toasting the memory of when Batman films were fun.

If Boz Scaggs counts then I am on board, Cap’n!
But I don’t like Christopher Cross or Hall & Oates -
I've always found the yacht rock label pretty meaningless. A lot of the time it seems to be nothing more than "albums featuring Jeff Porcaro".

I still can't believe this is a real movie that is happening. An officially licensed Barbie movie written by Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig. WTF

Tim Greiving published a nice interview with Andrew Stanton today about the scores for Pixar movies.
Very cool detail that the reason Randy Newman scored the first Toy Story is because Stanton loved to play the Avalon OST while writing it.

They probably felt like they couldn't do Pinocchio again since they'd done it for CE3K.

I was first aware of it when it was mentioned in the NY Times profile back in February, there was some discussion of it then in the thread for that article.
