I love the fleeting shot of the holographic videogame being played in the bar. Echoes the groundbreaking rudimentary early computer graphics in the Genesis video, but now used just for background world-building.

The level of vitriol in this thread is so intense it feels like you have to put some sort of firm stake down as your position but I haven’t really formed a solid opinion of Holt’s part of the score. It seemed fine on my one viewing of the episodes. It didn’t jump out at me as especially good or bad. Like how for instance, when Gia’s imperial theme first played in Rogue One and I was like “this doesn’t work it feels like a parody.” I like R1 enough that I’ve just gotten used to it, but it was a bad first impression. Holt’s work didn’t make a bad first impression for me at least.

With neither Spider-Man: No Way Home nor Top Gun Maverick receiving releases in China, and still being big hits, I’m hoping Hollywood is finally moving on from their pathetic, obsequious kowtowing to Chinese censors. The fact that it took this long for DS2 to dethrone Batman, despite opening with a $50 million headstart, shows that word-of-mouth for that, while not bad per se, was certainly less enthusiastic than usual for a big Marvel. Which is fine, people got so used to MCU doing insane box office every time in the time around Endgame, they forget that before Black Panther it was pretty normal for some MCU movies to do middling business (the Thors, Ant-Mans, and the first DS were all just pretty good box office, not insane).

It's a mystery to me why Edge of Tomorrow didn't catch on more with audiences. Everyone I've talked to that's seen it, including several normie-ass normies irl, has loved it.
