I'm looking forward to this (and to the film too actually) but NOT looking forward to the OST album.

Me neither. I'm looking forward to the deluxe edition Varese will inevitably put out in 2018 that was the version I wanted all along

Really like his Trek scores so definitely looking forward to more. Hope to hear even more exploration and variations of the Main theme and Spock's theme.
I especially love the Into Darkness score (not the movie, just the score).

Well I know many of the most vocal members on this board are Giacchino-skeptics or outright haters, but I'm a huge fan and I can't wait for this. He's a very welcome addition to the MCU.

That song always makes me think of the over-the-top patriotic song that's being recorded at the beginning of the movie Nashville.
"We must be doin' somethin' right, to last 200 years!"

Well given the ridiculous visual design of that site it is also just literally a dark (shadowy perhaps?) place.

I believe she mentions wanting to hear Randy Newman himself perform the pieces he composed for her, well here he is performing one of the movements on George Gershwin's piano at the Library of Congress:
This is clearly off-the-cuff and unrehearsed, but still neat.

Sign o' the Times is my personal favorite Prince album. Or maybe Parade. He was such an an astounding artist, one of the greats of pop.

And I just saw it a couple of weeks ago! On a bill with Tchaikovsky's "The Tempest" and Mendelssohn's 3rd symphony.
Ha, when I saw it it was performed alongside Tchaikovsky's "Manfred" symphony. I have to say I greatly preferred the Prokofiev concerto. It had a real sense of being "alive" and dynamic compared to the Tchaikovsky symphony which could be quite plodding in places for me...

Ah. Yeah the arrangement of the backing track for the song was pretty good. If only the vocal performance met it halfway....

Trust in Me is the only one that manages to sound acceptable.
Really? I hated the ScarJo version of 'Trust in Me.' She's supposed to sound seductive but her performance was just narcoleptic/bored.

For real, the phasing out of the original Avengers was teased pretty heavily at the end of Age of Ultron.

Also, "was"?

I haven't enjoyed Pegg since Shaun of the Dead but if you Trekkies want him then you're more than welcome to him. Here, I'll give you a fiver to keep him.
What the what? You didn't like Hot Fuzz? Classic action comedy! Timothy Dalton!

He didn't know Star Wars was returning in 2009.
I know that's what I'm saying. He'd always wanted to make Star Wars-like space opera, the real thing was unavailable, and Star Trek was what he could get his hands on, so he turned Trek into a space opera.

It doesn't seem like Trek has managed to distinguish itself from the rest of the current blockbuster offer.
Not that I have something against an action Trek movie, it's more like the previous two were very dull, specially the second one.
Yeah I don't have anything against a more action-oriented Trek either if they're able to balance it with the more thoughtful spirit at the heart of Star Trek (for me). First Contact achieved this balance probably the best out of the first 10 movies. It takes many cues from straight-up action movies of the 90s while retaining the core Trek spirit.
I still think '09 and Into Darkness were just dry runs for Force Awakens for Abrams.

Plus, for me personally, Into Darkness has one of my top 3 favorite Giacchino scores, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

a-ha's "The Living Daylights" is my favorite James Bond theme. A lot of people seem to hate that one, which I've never understood.

The parts that are quotes of George Bruns' original score are fantastic. I'll go see the movie before making any kind of judgment calls on Debney's original stuff.

Yes, I immediately ripped the Youtube audio and have been listening The President's Own Star Wars suite for days now. Great stuff.

He's on vacation.

I am a fan of all kinds of artsy fartsy auteur filmmakers, but Refn is decidedly not for me.

Hire a security detail to keep him locked in his house composing. He's only allowed to leave to go to the scoring stage.
