He should cast Tom Hanks as Shia Lebeouf's original adoptive father, who it turns out isn't dead after all. "I intended Mutt to be a sort of godson of Forrest Gump."

I'm avoiding all clips as I want to go into this movie as cold as possible, but I have high hopes for the action in this one. The Russo brothers staged what is the best action in any MCU movie in Winter Soldier so they definitely have to up their game with this one, set that bar even higher.

We'll agree to disagree. I bet some people thought Connery was too big a star to cast in Last Crusade! "James Bond in Indiana Jones? Too distracting!" Of course that's totally a straw man argument, I have no idea if anyone actually thought that in 1988.

Aw man, I would LOVE to see Hanks in an Indiana Jones movie. He'd be great at playing a comic relief role a la Denholm Elliott in Last Crusade.

Nothing's better than the octobass!

Funnily enough, I just saw an orchestra perform Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 in February. It was the Richmond Symphony orchestra with guest conductor Victor Yampolsky. Wonderful music. That central melody you referenced is at its most powerful when played on the double basses IMO. There's nothing quite like the rumble of double basses in a live performance

Only way Goldenthal scores a Marvel movie is if they hire Julie Taymor to direct one. Which would actually be really interesting. Get on that Kevin Feige!

Sounds like maybe? hopefully? Jackman will be going for a more orchestral score with this one? Although I fully expect to hear a lot of the electronic manipulation found in Winter Soldier, which I actually liked! It just got a little repetitive for me.

Hmmm, I know Zimmer has a long-time working relationship with Disney but he's never worked with Marvel before right? Although, Marvel has hired Remote Control-affiliated composers in the past I suppose. So yeah, not far fetched.

Does Mark Rylance get enough sleep? Everything I've ever seen him in, he always looks a bit dazed, a bit out of it.

Man, Spielberg's never gone this "all in" with an actor in the style of, say, Scorsese-DiCaprio/DeNiro or Anderson-Murray. Should be interesting!

Much like Carell and Foxcatcher or Theron in Monster, Emma Stone is practically guaranteed a "movie star deglamorized" Oscar nomination. Assuming the movie isn't a trainwreck or something.

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)

Every one who worked behind the scenes on Sky Captain appears to have been blacklisted or something in Hollywood. It's a real shame. -

Yup! I pre-ordered a while back. The entire album is already up on Youtube if you haven't heard it already, it's a really nice collection of performances of 20th Century American compositions (outside of the wonderful Williams fanfare of course, which is 21st century):

Sidebar: "The Age of Innocence" score that Bernstein composed for Scorsese is one of my absolute favorite Bernsteins. Up there with Ten Commandments and To Kill a Mockingbird for me personally. Sidebar over. -
Such negativity around here sometimes. I'm definitely going to really "live with" this score for a week or so before checking on opinions here.

Oh boy I wish I lived in the UK. My favorite Herrmann score, my favorite Hitchcock movie, I'd be in heaven. -
Composer Threads The Official Howard Shore Thread
Disco Stu replied to Jilal's topic in General Discussion
It's just concerning he seems to be offloading his entire schedule. Like...I hope he's not having any health issues or something. For now, I think you're right and we're reading too much into it. If Scorsese ends up using a different composer for an original score(as opposed to licensing music) on Silence I'll be officially concerned. The last time Scorsese had an original score from someone other than Shore was back in the 90s I'm pretty sure. -

This one ^. Oh I know I'm probably reading way too much into Shore being replaced on two 2016 projects within a couple of months. -

It seems that Howard Shore is dropping all of his planned projects one by one. Not sure what that means if anything....
