Yeah I think James Newton Howard is an excellent choice, excited to hear a new composer in the Harry Potter universe of music.
Honestly the only thing that gives me pause with this movie is Yates directing it. I personally thought he ruined the last 4 Potter movies after Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire were so excellent. There were individual sequences and performances that were great, but overall poor adaptations that didn't capture the spirit of the books at all.

A cameo role near the end, like Tarkin. She apparently had lines at one point but the scenes were cut.
This is on the Mon Mothma page on Wookieepedia, but there's no source footnote so take it with a grain of salt:

Could it be this actress who played her in Revenge of the Sith? Possibly, no IMDB confirmation yet.

No Riz Ahmed that I could see either. I'm kind of hoping he has a substantial role. After being super impressed with his work in Nightcrawler I want him to become a staple character actor.

I am 100% behind Andy Serkis directing a movie that is a grand showcase for the possibilities of motion capture acting.......I just wish it wasn't in a movie called "Jungle Book: Origins" blech.

Oooh, who is that playing Mon Mothma? She looks remarkably like the original actress.
This looks great!

Interesting. So this wasn't the final trailer. Well maybe the last one will have Williams music (and hopefully more polished visual effects shots...)

i just wish the film industry had gone further perfecting animatronics/puppetry and just use CGI for a few touches here and there!
The creatures at Labyrinth seem to me better.
i don't know but as "perfect" as they gonna make the CGI (generally speaking) they'll never manage to add that "weight" you feel with things you can touch.
I agree. Watching the bonus features on the Force Awakens' blu-ray I was kind of amazed at how versatile physical puppets/animatronics can be, especially when simply augmented with CGI. I think certain types of characters make sense for fully CGI, but it shouldn't be the default.

When do we think the soundtrack will be released? My money's on Friday, June 24th, but I could also see them waiting until the film's release date (July 1st).

Yeah, it seems like we're going right back to where we started with the MCU. A mishmash of composers doing their own thing. Which is fine, and you still get some cool scores out of it, but some semblance of thematic cohesion would be nice.

The composer for Avengers 3 & 4 has not been announced yet.
Though Henry Jackman, who scored Winter Soldier for the Russos, did return to score Civil War for the Russos, and since they are directing Avengers 3 & 4, he seems likely...
It's kind of funny how short-lived "Brian Tyler as Marvel's house composer" was.

I'd be willing to be you've got plenty of time before that. Just my hunch.

Man, this thread has gotten off-topic but I gotta post my favorite "we gotta build a wall" joke:

Really nice performance. I'm going to see the Richmond Symphony play a John Williams program next January and I really hope they at least include Rey's Theme.

No, I am American and therefore the opposite of scrupulous.

A Best Picture of Spielberg? Gosh, I hope so.

Has anyone compared the theatrical end credits to the Blu-ray end credits yet? The credits are almost 3 minutes longer on the BD. I know "Scherzo for X-Wings" was added after Rey's theme. I wonder what credits were added though, 3 minutes is a lot of names to add.
Possibly dumb question, but are the credits the same between the BD and digital versions? I would assume yes, but has anyone verified?

It's one of my favorites by Emmerich. Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx make a fun team. It's certainly better than the similar Olympus Has Fallen, which came out the same year.

Count me in! Except for when he does dramas (Stonewall and that Shakespeare conspiracy movie), those are always not-in-a-fun-way terrible. But yeah, Stargate, ID4, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, White House Down. All really fun popcorn movies.

Yates was great at sucking all the life out of those wonderful stories.
