  1. Wow! This is fantastic! Going to use this for "guided listening" later this evening I think. So when might we expect the massive analysis for DoS?
  2. Ahhh, I just went back and listened to this (it's been forever since I've really listened to this release). I'm absolutely in love with the solo horn at 5:00 especially.
  3. Well at the very least we have "Dreaming of Bag End," 1 minute and 50 seconds of some of the loveliest music on any of the Middle Earth soundtrack releases. Yes, my glass is half full, haha.
  4. Maybe a skilled, professional performance would convince me otherwise, but I just don't think Jedi Steps translates well to piano, needs that gorgeous string section.
  5. His performance in 12 Years a Slave really is extraordinary. That movie alone makes him one of the best in my book. Also he was pretty fun as the guy heading up the rescue effort from Earth in The Martian, nothing amazing obviously, but enjoyable.
  6. ‘The Jungle Book’ Early Buzz: Critics Go Wild for Disney’s 3D Remake So this is apparently actually...good? Color me surprised that critics are loving it, but it certainly makes me want to see for myself.
  7. Chiwetel Ejiofor. He's one of the best actors working today.
  8. Nobody's Fool - Howard Shore I fell in love with the novel when I was in high school and thought the movie was a really good adaptation, one of Paul Newman's most under-appreciated performances. The score is probably my favorite of Shore's 90s dramatic scores. Really beautiful themes and, as the La-La Land liner notes point out, the instrumentation and tone of much of the soundtrack foreshadows how he would score the Shire in LOTR. Bravo Mr. Shore! This is my favorite track and it definitely has a lot of the Shire in it.
  9. Didn't this series just end a few months ago? I'm not sure 'reviving' is the right word here so much as Discovery Says 'Psych!'
  10. I thought the visual design of Thor 2 was gorgeous, but the screenplay just wasn't all the way there. For Ragnarok, I'm wanting to see more of the bright, stylized sci-fi world that really differentiates Thor from other Marvel properties just with a stronger story.
  11. Tangent: If you search John Powell on Wikipedia look who he gets paired with in the disambiguation! Reading from left to right: "Cool, cool, wooooah now back up a second!"
  12. Is there a quintessential John Powell score a true beginner should listen to first? I need a gateway drug.
  13. Yeah, I just need to see the movie again. There's a lot to take in with the first viewing!
  14. Apologies, I haven't been following all the score analysis threads religiously. Are we reasonably sure that was a new performance of the Imperial March for that quote in the helmet scene? For some reason, when I first saw the movie I assumed it was tracked.
  15. Ah yes, easy to forget. That's not on the OST right?
  16. Using that as an insult is the most abhorrent thing I've seen you post around here. Blocked.
  17. Yes well, there it is. I'm the only person I know who loves both that movie and the score, but I'm very happy over here, not hating it
  18. Yeah the Ark Theme playing when they enter the warehouse at the beginning of KOTCS was one of my favorite theme reuses in that score. Good stuff. And of course the gorgeous version of Marion's Theme during the Wedding scene that segues beautifully to the Raiders March for the credits.
  19. I'd like to see him return to the Driving Miss Daisy Cinematic Universe.
  20. I'm pretty sure the Miss Peregrine release date has been shuffled around a fair bit so it could be that at one point the schedule would have conflicted and by the time the date was pushed back it was too late or something. I dunno. EDIT: Found at least one article that lends credence to my theory http://screenrant.com/tim-burton-miss-peregrines-movie-release-date/
