Disco Stu reacted to Matt C in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Far from the Madding Crowd - Craig Armstrong
I'm in love with the score, especially the ravishing violin-led "Opening". It really paints a musical story, it doesn't repeat themes verbatim but weaves an arresting spell. And Carey Mulligan has a lovely singing voice, i.e. "Let No Man Steal Your Thyme".

The fanfare towards the end of Rendezvous at Griffith Park Observatory sounds better on the OST. Something weird happened to the part when he runs up the stairs on the disc 1 version.

Disco Stu got a reaction from Corellian2019 in Top 5 Soundtracks from the Year You Were Born
Very jealous of people born in years like 77, 79, 82, etc. But hey, at least I was born in the year my favorite Bond score was released.
I also completely forgot to mention Richard Robbins' Maurice, a great 87 score.
Also, Superman IV may very well take a spot in my top 5, but I've never heard it or seen the movie! Can't wait for that LLL release.
Oh gosh! And Carter Burwell's Raising Arizona score is good too. Lots of good stuff in the indie margins, just not as many of the big tentpole orchestral scores that people talk about still.
A score I always forget how much I like between listens

And I really should do that more often, actually. I find that their packaging of CDs, especially multiples, is generally more foolproof than some other online stores.

I should have chimed in before, I'm listening to and enjoying every episode! Just don't have any particular feedback. Keep up the good work!

Disco Stu got a reaction from MikeH in Is Swing, Swing, Swing from 1941 original?
Some designer in the 80s trying to create 30s art deco graphics... which end up just looking super 80s in retrospect

I recommend John Barry's The Living Daylights. Clears the mind after the listening demands of the OT scores.

Disco Stu got a reaction from Chen G. in Solo: A Star Wars Story (Ron Howard 2018)
It makes complete story and character sense that those two needed to have separate experiences of individual growth before being reunited.

I'm shocked, and a little saddened, that you could think that, Jay

I think it was proved to be anatomically accurate, but the extended leg looks somehow unnaturally long to many peoples' eyes (including mine).
Here's the poster from last year that the internet had a lot of fun with
