  1. I've also heard of ghost writers in the early times of online film music communities, but it has never been talked about much, Seems like film music taboo.
  2. I don't get it... you don't think much of these scores, but you say The Phantom Menace is great. Hector - puzzled
  3. Lovely thread. P.S - I've always loved Angela Morley's arrangements in Boston Pops albums
  4. Korngold has also been associated with very few good films, nevertheless he's consider the grand daddy of film music.
  5. I couldn't see it, my sister was watching one of her stupid shows
  6. You've probably heard welsh, but celtic gets the credit.
  7. In fact, I've often said it that one of the current composers should get a music director post at an orchestra, I think Cliff Eidelman has been conducting but I don't know if he's in a particular orchestra. Also Horner could take a break from composing, conduct and he'll be back fresher than ever, but that's another subject altogether.
  8. Williams is a great composer and has written plenty of memorable film scores, but a touch of genious for him was to obtain the conducting post for an orchestra, but not just any orchestra, but the Boston Pops, one of the most famous orchestra, and in the time Williams joined, it had television coverage. Now that was genious.
  9. Bravo Justin! Magnificent poll! :spiny:
  10. It says it's welsh. Suo-Gân (Traditional Welsh Lullaby)
  11. I've had this a long time, a favor the Church version, but both are good.
  12. Perhaps we don't know the answer to this, but from discussions I have had with some members, and a clip from a movie I saw, seems this new Santa Klaus guy could be the next Jerry And by the way, I hope Cliff Eidelman associates himself with at least a couple of movies every other year as he becomes one of the most important composers of the future. Williams Jaws (Film Score) Royal Scottish National Orchestra Joel McNeely
  13. The water bill is too big already, can't throw away money I'll be using air
  14. Phantom Menace is a good score. Anyhoo, if we're talking about computer generated actors, I guess Lucas might want to redo the prequels with a CGI Alec Guiness from his early movies.
  15. Someone should make one of those online petitions to stop Spielberg from doing Indiana Jones IV
  16. Me too. Soundtrack of the week: Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan by James Horner
  17. What exactly is this?: Bernstein Symphony No. 2 The Age of Anxiety Phillipe Entremont, piano New York Philharmonic Leonard Bernstein
  18. I've no doubt McCarthy is a great guy, who loves his work, and a wondeful family man, and I know the restrictions in scoring for television, even before I knew about this, I figure that out. His score for Generations is crap. I mean, I don't know, he may have had liberty at writing action music, but he, seemed to me, couldn't do anything. Maybe he's better at other kind of writing, but a Star Trek movie wasn't one of it. Take it from a guy who loves Star Trek, but not a hard core nerd that you will find out there.
  19. If they had the trailers for both The Ladykillers and The Terminal, I'd be more attracted to the first one, seems like a new thing for Hanks than the latter one. Maybe Spielberg should direct the next Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie Dvorak Symphony No. 9 From the New World Berlin Philharmonic Herbert von Karajan
