  1. Once upon a time, there was a daddy and a mommy named The Daddy and The Mommy. They found a cute little baby and called it The Cute Little Baby.
  2. Who doesn't? I love how even though it was a bleedingly obvious rushed decision in the aftermath of Star Wars (not necessarily a bad thing, see Alien), they still didn't try to force Trek into an action-adventure movie and rather went with the 2001-esque route.
  3. The opening of The Throne Room is mine.
  4. How far back last year? Off the top of my head E.T., CE3K, Titanic, Die Another Day, Alien3, Waterworld, maybe Romancing the Stone can all be considered unmissable if you have the slightest interest in them.
  5. Sam is definitely the main hero: when do you see Master Frodo refuse the power to turn Mordor into a giant flower-garden?
  6. TOS is overall pretty good, with some major duds (more in season 3) and quite a number of genuinely great episodes. Some aspects are very, very 60s, others were astonishingly ahead. I loved watching it two years ago (accidentally started for the first time on almost the exact 50th anniversary) and haven't been able to continue with Next Generation since (only got to the first few episodes of season 1). Tried JJTrek but couldn't get more than 2 minutes in.
  7. Not yet. I'll probably get them this summer, but August is the earliest I can recieve packages.
  8. To be slightly fair, it's supposed to be a fake and the real champion should be able to tell that, I guess the brothers made or brought all those decoy chalices there when they went there during the First Crusade.
  9. Both are more towards "would be really nice to have" than "need to have" for me, that's why I'm so on the fence. I think both are great, but I don't have any emotional attachment to either the scores or the movies. If I miss it, I won't lose any sleep over it in the foreseeable future, which would not be the case with Potter, Indiana Jones or Star Wars, of course, neither would it have been with E.T. or Jaws. Some of you guys could possibly sell off the collection in the future like Trent and I'll get in on it then
  10. The droid factory, the clone battle and a number of big Jedi Temple shots take the cake for Attack of the Clones as my worst-looking Star Wars film.
  11. Why is it so hard for non-specialty labels to inform us about disc runtime and track lenghts in at least one of the multiple tracklists they include?
  12. No, they were missing their daily tranquilisers.
  13. Star Wars OT OSTs Holy fuck are these awesome programs. Even RotJ I completely turned around on. And just as I suspected, now that I'm not listening through headphones, the problems with the stereo and general mastering of Empire kind of become lost - except for that one portion of Heroics of Luke and Han where it suddenly becomes completely muffled mid-cue and gradually becomes un-muffled. I'm covinced nobody listened to that track before printing it.
  14. What a silly thing to complain about. They're full of armed bombs, they're exploding. Why they don't have proper shielding is a good question - maybe the bombs couldn't pass through either? Guess you haven't paid attention and didn't get the main point of the entire chase. the Resistance is matching the speed of the FO to be just barely out of range. They're small and the Supremacy's huge, so I guess they could outrun it with enough fuel. A proper nitpick to the chase would be why didn't the FO send say 4 smaller Destroyers to go faster and burn their fuel up quicker? Or why didn't the Resistance transfer the fuel from the 2 other crafts and ditch them instead of completely wasting them? There's an explicit line in the movie stating she got away on the Supreme Leader's personal shuttle. I don't think seeing it would have added anything to the movie except more runtime. There's a shot where the guns on the end of Finn's speeder start melting in the beam. I guess the plan was no fire until at the beam because there's no point. Even the old AT-ATs were blasterproof. Shooting inside the gun could potentially have worked. In what way would that be an improvement? It would just be for another stupid laugh, and to the further detriment of Hux's character, since nobody would have obeyed him. They have the other magic power boss who just threw Hux to the wall, could choke them with a thought, and they literally just bombarded another magic folk who came out unscathed. So what do you want with this? For Kylo to be dead or for Hux to be even more of a useless goon? It's fine to stay as a little moment which JJ can potentially build upon. An actual legit problem, well done. The problem with a Leia override scene would have been that the squadron either disobeys Poe (so you could complain about further depowering of males) or they disobey Leia to follow Poe, which would depower Leia completely. The problem is not with the scene on the surface, but when you start taking it apart like this and thinking why somebody didn't do this completely logical thing. It's a problem with the script, which I admit could have benefitted from a draft or two more to tighten up and iron out kinks like this.
  15. Did anyone on Earth seriously expect a sequel to a pretty-well-but-not-universally-greatly recieved movie to make anywhere near Two. Billion. Dollars. Again? The "drop off" is relatively huge because TFA's box office was so insane because of the hype.
  16. Is it inferior? Point is, I don't think anybody expected it to make as much money as the motion picture event of a generation.
  17. OK, some pictures with the obligatory rug: (click to make them bigger) Pictures apart from the posters are quite OK, Yoda behind the Empire disc should've been flipped because it's terrible both in composition and consistency with the others. The blurryness of the Empire poster doesn't quite come through in this picture. The CDs are weird and half-printed, I've never seen anything like that before. No, you can't play the cover side, I tried. As you can see, Jedi's shiny side is divided in two with diferent levels of shinyness, signifying how it's only half full. Or they just messed something up.
