Holko reacted to crumbs in Music from Raiders of the Lost Ark is coming to vinyl 10" picture disc from Disney Music Emporium on Black Friday
@BrotherSound pointed out that 10" vinyl can realistically hold only 9 minutes of music for optimum audio quality. Go much higher and the quality degrades. Which means this release can't be an OST reissue...

So more likely a heavily truncated OST, probably 2 tracks per side?

    Here's the OST:

I have to say, Disney Music make some utterly bizarre decisions with these marquee properties. It's like they go out of their way to do the exact opposite of what we want.

Yes, that's definitely what I was thinking and meaning.

I love love love it! But of course the revised one works way better.

Also in Paint Cans when Marv realises it's missing and Harry looks for it!

The other day I was thinking that many Home Alone motifs are the usual external, descriptive ones - Holiday Flight, Kevin's theme (gaining confidence with every new rendition), the burglars, the House - but Somewhere in my Memory and Star of Betlehem are more like Kevin's introspective themes, the first representing at first the jolly holiday feeling, then the melancholy, then the joy of everyone reunited at home, the second as you said Kevin's fears and later, after it's reevaluated, his determination. SimM standing for "Home", SoB for "Alone", if you will! From the home being a normal home, to it not really being a home without everyone in it, back to being home again; and from Kevin being alone and afraid, to making peace with being alone and having to defend his house himself.

I also really like how by the end SimM fuses with Kevin's theme, foreshadowed in the main title too: first phrase (out of 4) of SimM + second (of 2) of Kevin! This is also present in the end credits and therefore the concert piece, making it extra nice that JW asked Mike to move the concert piece away from the overture position for the newer LLL.

Mike mentions in the booklet how Old Man Marley's Dies Irae (Introducing Marley, Man of the House, Drug Store) gets "revealed" to be Carol of the Bells - I think I'm hearing more similar shapes elsewhere too, a rythmically jumbled one recurring for the scary basement furnace (4th note quickly overtaken by the first one again), and the twisted stabs after the tooth stinger in Follow that Kid, first 3 brass notes loud, the 4th coming later quietly on strings.

Too bad 2 barely makes any use of its new themes and uses the old ones messily. Kevin's theme gets the most consistent continuation, still being confident but getting multiple fun variations.

I like Curse of the Black Pearl and the OST is terrible. (I mean the original CD actually SOUNDED terrible. Has this been fixed?) I cannot get into Dead Man's Chest as a whole at all. But I play the three suites (Jack Sparrow, The Kraken, Davy Jones) over and over.

But At World's End? Oh that is one of the sublime Zimmer scores. I miss him writing scores like this. I can actually listen from start to finish and enjoy the whole thing. I love the themes and I love the way they're used. The only thing I skip is Multiple Jacks. Meh.

Pirates of the Caribbean (all 5OST) by Hans Zimmer and the RCP crew
The OST presentation is rather disappointing. DMC is far too short missing lots of great cues, same with AWE. OST and DMTNT are the only two with a proper presentation, although DMTNT sounds a bit less good than the previous entries.
Finally TCotBP is a wtf album with a surprising poor quality sound for a recent recording. Expansions are required!

Or JW for not selecting a better take or asking for a retake. He would've been really really tired of JJ's shit by then to be fair.

    Just back home now.
From the moment the rebel fleet leaves hyperspace until the end credits is mostly a total sound mixing mess. Into the Trap inaudible. Even Victory Celebration was barely heard. Luckily the end credits didn't have other sound to compete with, and that was the moment when I realized even the music was too loud with some beginning of distortion here and there (yes, it was amplified).
Such a shame as the orchestra itself was quite good, and there was an interesting percussion session to produce the sound of the different Ewok moments.

Looking forward for a much better experience in London.

I think Williams poured his heart into the first version of the movie he watched.  As he scored the 3rd or 4th version, he went last third of AOTC on it.

Last time I ordered there, I think it was shipped by regular mail, and Amazon handled the import fees. I would assume the two are unrelated, and that they'll therefore handle the import fees with other shipping companies as well, but that's just a guess.

I've  had a bad experience with DHL's handling of import fees when I ordered from Omni Music last year. They charged way too much, and after I complained and provided them with correct values (which took me a while to research and calculate), they reduced the fees I had to pay, but they were still too high.

And it can't be changed now anyway. And John Williams was happy with the orchestra as such and their excellent soloists, too.

No one is able to prove that well-known stars are generally better than newcomers, because all stars were newcomers themselves when they were discovered.

Lose your interest, not loose your interest

I see why the plots can be disappointing especially the way you line them all up like that, but that's the thing: That's what this show is.  It's a throwback to old 90s cartoons that were made to sell action figures, with simple plots you can watch any episode and understand.  Except the production values are top notch and there's an ongoing story that makes the end of each season rewarding if you watched them all.  I'd finish season 2 up since you've already seen 6/8ths of it, since IIRC the final 2 eps are better than average

If you want to ruin it for yourself, pay close attention to them, try to keep repeating that initial pattern in your head: the snares in the right and whatever in the left channel are already late to the beats during the initial statement and even miss bars, but then in the reprise from 4:09 to 4:19 they are completely just completely lost and messed up.
