CGCJ got a reaction from Gabriel Bezerra in The Bad Batch - The Clone Wars Spinoff show
Looks like Jason Fujita actually wrote on the score! He's credited for "Emery Briefs Echo Part 1" & "Emery Briefs Echo Part 2" from The Cavalry Has Arrived. None of his cues made it to the soundtrack releases, though.

CGCJ reacted to crumbs in The Phantom Menace: Ultimate Edition is back on streaming services
There's a lot of truth to this. Compare fan reactions to the isolated scores for TLJ & DOD versus the TPM UE, which is effectively a lossless isolated score on CD.
Marketing it as "every note composed by John Williams" left a sour taste in people's mouths.

CGCJ reacted to enderdrag64 in The Phantom Menace: Ultimate Edition is back on streaming services
The Phantom Menace is on par with the OT films in terms of completeness if you count videogame material, it's probably more complete than ROTJ even. Really the only things that are missing are the End of Darth Maul opening and the film mix of Augie's Great Municipal Band.
AOTC and ROTS still have significant chunks that are only available via blu-ray rips

CGCJ reacted to Manakin Skywalker in Michael Abels' THE ACOLYTE (2024)
Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the credit music seems to primarily consist of various cues from throughout the episodes edited together. There's little to no original material written for the credits depending on the episode (for example I *think* the very opening of Episode 1's credits are unique, but everything else is just music tracked from elsewhere in the episode).
Which I suppose is a good thing, in case any of these cues end up being unreleased on an official album.

CGCJ reacted to Knight of Ren in Michael Abels' THE ACOLYTE (2024)
In case anyone wants to hear Abels' score out of the show, I quickly ripped the music for the end credits of both episodes, which seem to be made out of several separate sections from the underscore of each episode. So far I caught a couple of recurring themes, I think associated with Osha and her sister respectively!
I wonder if we'll get to hear some Williams' reference at some point? In case it happens it'll probably be the Force theme as it's the only logical theme in the timeline. Perhaps Yoda's theme in case he makes a cameo (which I doubt, but who knows)

CGCJ reacted to Falstaft in THE ACOLYTE - 2024 Star Wars TV
Just watched. Abels and the music team do a really wonderful job capturing the underscoring style of the Prequels. And while I hear very few outright melodic quotes from Star Wars, one motif that pops up in the second episode will bring to mind a certain formula from Williams's 2002 scores for suggesting mystery.

Seems so, given he's not actually credited as working on the film.

CGCJ reacted to ragoz350 in RESTORED ISOLATED SCORE: Star Wars Saga (Unused Music Restored To Picture)
I think this is the appropriate thread...
A mockup of a fragment of an early version of End Credits (1-27-17).
End Credits music in TLJ has a complex history of versions: at least three can be distinguished, the thematic structure of which you can see in the Lehman's Catalogue (page 87).
The earliest version isn't "available" in its entirety: only the first part. In the sequel trilogy, JW always wrote End Credits in parts (in at least two). For example, it is known that in TFA he wrote one part first and handed it to JKMS with a note in the sketch "Ending to come".
As for this version, 9 days later (February 5) JW made small fixes regarding instrumentation. Perhaps at that time the 2nd part of End Credits was already finished, but we don't know about it.
Moreover, I only did a mockup of the first half of that part. The most intriguing thing here is Rose's alternate B-theme, which JW later abandoned. Also he tried to continue the 'Luke in Exile' theme (at 1:57).
(The second "unmockuped" half is based on 1M6 We Can Do This, but contains original snippets as well. Alas, I'm not sure I'll take on this half...)

CGCJ reacted to enderdrag64 in Star Wars Alternate Takes Thread
Not an alternate take but it appears that 9m1 The Walls Converge is the wrong speed/pitch on the 1997 set
The entire track plays too fast, I had to change speed and pitch by a multiplier of 0.991 to get it to sync with the film and 2018 set
The 1993 set is almost entirely made of alternate takes, except for 2:40-end which matches the other sets and the film

CGCJ reacted to enderdrag64 in Should I switch to the original OST releases for the OT soundtracks or keep using the 1997 Special Editions?
Technically the 1997 ESB doesn't sound "bad" at all, it's not like there are technical or sound quality issues with it. Technically and sonically, it sounds great - the main issue I have with it is that most of the tracks are remixed and sound nothing like the film mix, usually made more mono.
That said, it's not terribly dissimilar to the remixes done for the 1977/1980 OST albums. I find it really strange how many people will say the 1997 ESB sounds like shit but then will heartily recommend the 2016 digital OST reissues

CGCJ got a reaction from Sam the Music Man in Tales Of The Empire (May 4th) - Mini Series
Here's my spreadsheet on the score if any one wants a breakdown of the soundtrack release: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11f44kZXA864sWJcZU09RCMa2LGv01GQnoO4DhYMi0IU/htmlview
Looks like Jason Fujita is now writing on the scores, being credited for Seek the Healer. He was previously credited as 'Music Assistant' on Ahsoka & The Bad Batch series 3.
Also, Ludwig Göransson is credited for Back to Corvus so presumably it references his score from The Mandalorian episode The Jedi.

CGCJ reacted to enderdrag64 in Star Wars Alternate Takes Thread
Update on this: it's actually much more complicated than I originally described, all three sets are inaccurate to the film performance edit.
The 1993 set has an incorrect take from 1:00-1:30
The 1997 set has incorrect takes from 0:00-0:19, 0:56-1:00, 1:19-1:30
The 2018 set has the correct takes everywhere, but transitions between them at the wrong point leading to a missing second at 0:59, this missing second can be recovered using the 1993 set
