CGCJ reacted to BrotherSound in RESTORED ISOLATED SCORE: Star Wars Saga (Unused Music Restored To Picture)
Yep: the last note of 1M6 is a D, the same as the first note of ‘Journey to Exegol’, which strengthens the case for the opening of the track being 1M7.

We continue to muse on the little sheet leak on TROS...
This time 1M6 Ren's Entrance cue. We know that it is intended for the scene on Mustafar, which is where the final film begins. The Oracle, who was later cut from the film, was also present in this scene. This cue has a later version (1M15 Vader's Castle), which is shorter in length and partially used in the film.
This scene was not originally in the beginning of the movie - before it there was Rey's training (cues 1M3-5).
I didn't think to do a video for this cue at first (since only the very last shots in the final film is intact), but since I started posting all the mockups in this thread, I decided not to make a confusion.
The beginning of the cue was obviously temp-tracked by Padme's Ruminations from Ep. III that JW almost repeated (by removing the synth and adding string clusters). I "restored" this part in very rough way... Honestly, I have no idea what was supposed to happen here - the slo-mo footage was already in the teaser, but there may have been more.
The string fragment sounding during the perhaps gradual appearance of the Oracle was moved into 7M20 Approaching the Throne cue by the composer.
It's also interesting to note the rendition of the Imperial March, which seems to be heard here during the dialogue - in the newer version of the cue, the March sounds very loud and longer, apparently during the added (and then deleted) shot of Vader's castle.
After that, Oracle disappears, and Kylo takes the Wayfinder. Interestingly, unlike the new version, there is no Kylo theme or Wayfinder motif here.
And an abnormally long chord (if the timecode is to be believed) is followed by a transition to 1M7 cue - possibly Journey to Exegol.

Likely "Buccaneer" was the production code name, with 101 being the episode number (series 1 episode 1 - "101").

JKMS shared a few sheet music parts. Looks interesting.
Can anyone imagine what "Buccaneer 101" means?

Good news! According to Film Music Reporter, two full soundtrack albums featuring themes by Göransson and score by Joseph Shirley will be released on January 21 (Volume 1: Episodes 1-4) and February 11 (Volume 2: Episodes 5-7) respectively. Not that it was really in doubt, but it's nice to have official confirmation.

Joseph Shirley has been working with Goransson for a long time now, so it makes absolute sense that he's been given this opportunity. In fact, he's credited with several excellent Mando cues, including Nurse and Protect, Trashed Crest, and Mando Says Goodbye from Season 1, as well as co-credits on most of the album tracks from Season 2.
The news certainly still comes as a surprise to me and I hope it doesn't end up being a mental block for the way I approach the score and show, but I like what I've heard thus far even if my excitement level is more contained than usual. The new themes are good and well-integrated into the score, and there are certainly a couple of cues that I'd like to have a closer listen to. In general, I'm mostly looking forward to seeing where it all goes in the next few episodes.
Here's what I heard in this chapter...
Prologue - A fairly long cue for the opening set of flashbacks. Lots of atmospheric rumbling and low strings, a slew of eclectic sounds, and several references to the Goransson's themes, both new and old. The vocalic textures are strong and there's some neat instrumentation, including particularly triumphant horns as Boba emerges from the sand, as well as a combination of guitar and tambourine for an encounter with Tusken Raiders. I honestly got a lot of Dune vibes from the opening, both in the show and the score. The almost pirate-y string theme that opens Ludwig's credits suite plays over the title card.
Escape Attempt - Largely atmospheric opening as Boba Fett finds himself a prisoner of a group of Tusken Raiders. Things pick up as he attempts to escape, although the cue is limited to electronics and percussion for the most part.
Suiting Up / Pay Tribute - Particularly bombastic horns as Boba dawns his armor, with low-key pizzicato, light strings, and percussion underscoring the offerings of the many visitors to the throne room. Fun cue!
Loyal to Me - Boba recruits the Gamorrean guards and his theme from Mando S2 begins to play, with the closing statement from the Chapter 16 post-credits scene being repurposed for a wide-shot of a Tatooine city. The S2 theme continues underneath some brief dialogue. @Holko has wondered whether the S2 theme will be used for events in the present timeline, with the new themes Ludwig has written for this show being applied more so to the flashback timeline. We shall see!
Cantina Latina - Robert Rodriguez's version of John Williams' Cantina Band source. Good to hear Max Rebo's organ in there!
Tatooine Parkour - The first real action cue. Largely percussion and electronics with the S2 theme present, although the tempo picks up as the Gamorrean guards intervene and the fighters disperse.
Prisoner - Quiet pizzicato and bits of the S2 theme, with the new pirate-y theme receiving an almost medieval-sounding variation. Some of the new vocals also make an appearance.
Digging for Water - The pirate-y theme appears again, on what sounds almost like a mandolin or a strange guitar. It would seem that a lot of these new sounds seem are influenced by showrunner Robert Rodriguez's own tastes as well as Temeura Morrison's Maori heritage. Interesting!
Monster Attack - Some of the new themes are present in passing here but it's mostly loud monster music.
Return to Camp - The new themes are particularly upbeat and happy here, transitioning directly into Ludwig's end credits piece.

Restored a bit of 7M2 Rey Meets Luke, with a much more subdued rendition of the Force theme than the insert that replaced this section, 6M20 Sabre Toss. This portion is tracked into the tunnel scene with the giant snake.

CGCJ reacted to BrotherSound in RESTORED ISOLATED SCORE: Star Wars Saga (Unused Music Restored To Picture)
I’ve got a couple brief restored score videos for fragments of The Rise of Skywalker cues that got tracked into different scenes.
First up is ‘Filial Fencing’ (1M2?). The Luke and Leia duel flashback was apparently the original opening of the film and lasted considerably longer; the documentary shows several shots for this sequence that didn’t make the final cut being filmed.
’Filial Fencing’ is tracked into the scene where dark Rey appears, but I believe it was intended for this original opening, and the more threatening tone makes sense given that we wouldn’t initially know this was Luke and Leia.

A cue titled ‘The Feeling’ is tracked where Rey realizes Chewbacca is still alive. It seems most likely intended for this scene of Finn and Jannah which prominently features the phrase “a feeling” in the dialogue (ultimately tracked with music from The Force Awakens):

CGCJ reacted to ragoz350 in RESTORED ISOLATED SCORE: Star Wars Saga (Unused Music Restored To Picture)
Someone may have done it, but I decided to look at the old versions of the cues of the two Snoke scenes from TFA. And they turned out to be quite curious...
Let's start with the first scene. We know at least three versions of this cue.
The first version (4m30 Snoke) is very different from the others. Here the use of synth voices (note from the score: "space" voice - distant; very still (if it can be slightly sinister)) with the slight addition of a real chorus is noteworthy. Also interesting is pretty dramatic rendition of the Kylo Ren theme at the end of the cue.
Btw, the timpani roll at the beginning of the cue should overlap the end of the previous cue (3m29 and 3m29R Leia, C3PO & R2), intended for the deleted scene with Leia and the droids.
The second version (4m30R Snoke) is closer to the final cue. A male chorus is used throughout the entire cue. However, the music here is very different - the chorus has four parts (unlike the unison in the film version) and no text. The choral performance of the Kylo Ren theme is also very unexpected.
It's perhaps a rare case of such use of the male chorus in the JW's scores.
The second scene has only two known versions (there may have been an earlier version, but AFAIK, it hasn't been leaked). The cue 6m54AR Bring Her To Me (old version) begins with a small orchestral introduction (almost kept in the final version), and then the male chorus sounds, like in the 4m30R cue, and so does the Kylo theme.

CGCJ reacted to BrotherSound in THE LAST JEDI: ESCAPE - Complete Restored Intended Score
Just wanted to add a few notes for the truly nerdy:
This version uses the cue Williams wrote for the original opening, 1M2 Finn Wakes Up, but we don’t yet know if it was ever recorded. The deleted scene doesn’t use it, but there’s a couple deleted TFA scenes that definitely had music recorded, but aren’t presented with it.
1M2A is the untitled cue that provides the score for the revised opening. There’s also a 1M2A Fix titled Son of Starry Night with a different version of the music immediately following the crawl, but it wasn’t used and it’s unknown if it was recorded.
I don’t know if @crumbs referenced it, but the novelization exactly matches this ordering of events, which must have been what Williams scored before things were shuffled around.
The ending is a bit of a mystery. 1M8 We Lose Girl Ace, the final cue here, actually ends with a short note and an overlap indication, with the note that we “cut back to battle” here. Did the battle originally continue even longer?
Judging from the spectrograph, the long final note appears to have grafted on for the album, and the film instead uses tracked music here and for the short Snoke scene that follows.
What he intended to overlap here, and if it was ever written, is unknown. 1M9 is Revisiting Snoke, and it certainly doesn’t work to overlap those two.
There’s a tiny bit of known music missing from the leak, so I guess it’s possible there’s a 1M8A or something that’s missing, but I thought it was odd.

CGCJ reacted to crumbs in THE LAST JEDI: ESCAPE - Complete Restored Intended Score
Of the Star Wars sequels, The Last Jedi proved the most faithful to John Williams' intended score, with one major exception: the opening Escape sequence.
After Williams recorded the score's first 8 cues, Rian Johnson restructured the entire sequence, forcing deep music edits to match the revised opening. Sadly Williams followed suit on his OST, presenting a heavily truncated suite of these cues in Main Title and Escape.
Now, with the aid of sheet music and mockups, I've reconstructed the film's opening sequence, reintegrating deleted footage where available, and restored Williams' complete score to its intended glory.
In my opinion, the best continuous stretch of film scoring in the trilogy. Enjoy!
Williams' ability to ratchet up musical tension is simply unrivaled, paired with a climactic release to make the hair on your neck stand up. A shame neither the film nor soundtrack presented Williams' complete intended score; this had every potential of being the greatest opening track of any Star Wars soundtrack, period.
Alas, the wait continues for expanded releases that showcase the Maestro's complete musical vision.
Special shout out to @BrotherSound and another anonymous user for their help!

CGCJ reacted to The Illustrious Jerry in Ludwig Göransson & Joseph Shirley's THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT (2021)
https://filmmusicreporter.com/2021/09/22/ludwig-goransson-scoring-disneys-the-book-of-boba-fett/
Film Music Reporter publicly confirms the long-held assumption that Ludwig Göransson will indeed be scoring The Book of Boba Fett, joined by his longtime assistant composer Joseph Shirley. Recording began in August, and apparently there are not any restrictions similar to Mando S2, where the brass were only able to record for the finale cues. So that's good news!
There's not a lot we know about the show, as Lucasfilm has done well to keep a tight lid on these Disney+ projects, but I think it's safe to assume that there will be a lot of new ground covered thematically. Here's a reminder of Boba's lumbering motif, which will hopefully develop or become a part of something stronger if it's going to (presumably) carry the show:
Can't wait to hear the end credits piece for this one! We can only hope the fact that this is technically a new series will mean they might bless us with weekly OSTs again, but I wouldn't set any expectations. Really looking forward!
