HuberSepp reacted to Jurassic Shark in Alan Silvestri's READY PLAYER ONE (2018)
Too Horner-ish.
Silvestri: You're gonna need a better composer for this.
Spielberg: I know, but Horner's dead.
Silvestri: OK, then I'll just imitate him.

BTW: Does anybody know why Star Wars Oxygen was discontinued? Was David Collins tired of his more or less clueless counterpart?

HuberSepp reacted to Docteur Qui in Podcast: Rian Johnson On How John Williams Works
Hahaha I love how presumptuous and offended people are being in this thread. "He didn't even bother with a spotting session" etc. Who fucking knows why things happened the way they did. Endlessly speculating will bring you no closer to the truth. John Williams is a fucking professional who has zero ego, and that's why he is still doing this after 50 years.
Rian Johnson was chosen as the director. He made the film the way he wanted to, and that includes the scoring. John Williams is not the Queen, he does not need special treatment and he does not need people dropping to their knees when he enters a room. If he was given a temp track instead of a spotting session then he obviously didn't have a problem with it because he got the job done, and fucking nailed it.

Maybe. But you can see it also the other way round: He had so much confidence in JW's skills that he didn't need a spotting session.

HuberSepp got a reaction from Offline in THE LAST JEDI - Music Featurette with Recording Sessions Footage Shown at Opening Night Fan Event
Thanks a lot! But strange enough: You can clearly see JW conducting the main title for TLJ. This make it even more confusing why this recording was not used on the CD.

HuberSepp got a reaction from Sharkissimo in Michael Giacchino's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) - 2022 Expanded Edition now available
This rather sounds like a quotation of the "Dies Irae" motif, which Williams also used often in his scores (Ep. 2-4,7, Home Alone, etc.)
