You can't possibly think the Marvel movies are even in the same league as something like Raiders, and the level of craftsmanship that went into making what is an actual classic - and no doubt well regarded by Marty.

Return of the Jedi is good. A rousing finale with some of the trilogy's most memorable scenes and exchanges. The teddies don't ruin the whole thing for me like they do for others. I'm just not emotionally attached enough to the whole thing to really be bothered.

You’ve got it all wrong! You marry Raiders, fuck TLC and (very reluctantly) kill ToD for being supposedly so dark and all that. 

Not even, it has five deaths and the most gruesome scenes are very short. 
 
I get the sense many critics targeting the film for its violence are actually aiming at the film's suggestions of violence, or call to violence that isn't there at all. The film makes you think about the character and the world he is situated within and presents this depressing story of mental illness, betrayal and rejection (from society and people in general) and doesn't say anything more than that. It doesn't humanise the villain, it shows us the story behind it and that's that.
 
It's what I find most interesting about the whole controversy that the people detesting the film are projecting far more onto it than the film projects back. 

Venom is what you get when a corporation wants a quick comic book film and they just slap it together without any care in the world.
I don't get it, you're warning people away from the film for what it contains even though you haven't seen it???
 
Why don't you just watch the film and then make that judgement, because it sounds like the same old 'violent movies/games/media is responsible for violent people'. It's also foolish to judge a film by its trailer, when 90% of the time it's edited in a way to sell the movie one way or another without accurately representing the actual content of the film.
 
As it stands this film really isn't that violent.

I thought it was entertaining. It's honestly too dark and disturbing for its own good. It's clearly better than the other crappy DC movies, but I don't feel this tone or take on the character was really suited to the source material. It's a very different take and when you remember that it's all based on funny books about a guy dressing up as a bat and fighting a clown, it's just kinda...very weird how they did it here.
 
 
Joaquin gives a wild performance and it's unclear for much of the flick whether it's supposed to be blackly humorous. There's a turning point where it becomes extremely serious, dark and disturbing, yada yada yada. Joaquin smokes in nearly ever scene! You will have completely forgotten about that awful Suicide Squad Joker by the end, which is a good thing. This is just not a Gotham universe I prefer, but taken as its own weird thing, it's a rather fascinating 2 hours of artsy fartsy Phoenix weirdness with awkward laughing, dancing, smoking over and over and over again.
