John reacted to Trent B in FILM: The Last Jedi (2017)
Too many people stuck in the past and still bitching about this film even 2 years later which is sad. I mean seriously it's just a movie people.
Also for those that hate (or dislike) this movie and expect everyone else to (and even insult others who don't comply) well to me you stopped being a "fan" when you insist on that. For those who also say "this film ruined my childhood!" oh my lord grow the fuck up you're supposed to be adults it's just a damn movie.
It's just so sad to see so many "fans" bitching about this movie to this day even as far as going after the actors / actresses and harassing them. That is NOT cool at all and another reason to me that you're no longer a "fan" when you do that.
By the way I for one enjoyed both the film and the score.

John reacted to Cerebral Cortex in Star Wars IX The Rise of Skywalker (JJ Abrams 2019)
I mean, damn, he's 35 and already been directed by Spielberg, Scorsese, the Coens, Soderbergh, Spike Lee, Gilliam, and J.J. Abrams. That's an insane resume to have at the end of one's career, but before you're even 40? Goodness me.

He's one of the best actors of his generation and he's staring to build a fantastic career. He always does interesting work

The reason @mrbellamy's GIF is a classic and hilarious is because of how incongruous it is with Williams' words and behavior. It wouldn't be funny if there was even a whiff of actual inappropriateness!
Let's bask in the glory. BASK!

This is a really poor comment.
I'm sure Williams will sleep easier knowing you've given him the 'benefit of the doubt' that he's not some perverted creep obsessed with Ridley.

After all these years of Williams seemingly unappreciated by professionals in the other fields of the industry, particularly those as in the spotlight as movie stars, isn't it sweet that we finally have a huge breakout star like Daisy Ridley as a champion in his corner?

I challenge anyone to find a statement directly from Williams that has even a hint of inappropriateness. People are conflating the jokes made on the forum with Williams' actual words I think. We took his very innocent statements and exaggerated to extreme degrees for humor.

That.
You can really hear it in Rey's theme. It doesn't have the romantic edge of, say, Leia's theme. As Williams said: "When we first meet her, she's been alone, without her parents[...]I felt a lot of empathy for that girl".
Rey's theme is Williams telling the story of a young orphan from the point of view of a grandfather.

Williams' music generally does sound like something a kindly elderly chap running an old timey corner choccy shop would come up with.

His comments have always struck me as either grandfatherly or a bit tongue-in-cheek. Not creepy at all. I'm sure they don't even interact much. Ridley was an instant star in TFA, her charisma was positively electric. Of course she was inspiring for him as a composer who needs to respond to the characters musically.

Yeah men and women shouldn't be interacting with each other without strict monitoring from a professional qualified in assessing workplace sexual relations and authorised in escalating reports to employers and alerting law enforcement authorities should any form of harassment be detected. It's likely John Williams is a vicious sexual predator and vulnerable young womyn must be strongly cautioned.

The Force was the equivalent to "He's Batman" explanation by fantrolls to explain away the plotholes in Nolan's Batman movies.

One thing it's surely missing from the original is the musical soul Vangelis gave it! There are times it comes close but only when Zimmer set his synth to imitation mode because this is a sequel. Or they could be tracked, I dunno.

Blade Runner 2049
So Han was hiding out at the Korova Milk Bar!
Similar first reaction as to the first one: impressive for sure but probably needs another good watch or two in the future to really "get it" or pin down where I stand on the "meh" to "love" scale now that I know the general shape and idea.

The double-bladed sword in TPM was a fun gimmick but even that was lampooned in a meta way when Obi-Wan just cuts the sword in half before cutting Darth Maul in half. Same thing with General Grievous using a shitload of swords. Remember also that the outcome of several major laser sword confrontations wasn't even decided by a laser sword, such as Obi vs. Grievous, Yoda vs. the Emperor and Luke and Vader vs. the Emperor.
That's a great thing about the Lucas movies. Considering how little they were used in Episodes IV, V and VI, it seems like they should barely factor in to the sequel trilogy.

Sounds like a trailer-house reproduction of the themes, with the Yoda's theme sprinkled with 'Trailer-Tinkling' piano and bass drop.
I'm 100% convinced the Sith Rey is a vision Palpatine gives her and not what she will become.
