    Parasite.

Saw this last week. Definitely one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. Great story, great performances, great score... it’s just great! I love how it tackles all these different genres at once and it pulls it off so well. It’s at once a thriller, satire, comedy, and family drama. It all just works so well. Will definitely be revisiting this one in the near future!

The strong green tint was only added later in the blu ray release.

The recent 4K release is a better representation of how the film originally looked in the cinema.

Unfortunately I think that's just a quickie slate graphic. I doubt it's an indication of the actual marketing or final film logos.

Good for Steven. He can focus on doing something he actuallys wants to.

Probably means another Indy score from JW is now far less likely. Perhaps we'll get a Solo situation.

It may be slim but it's tightly packed and a lot is happening. 2 big movies like it was planned would have been perfectly satisfactory without achingly cutting any episodes out, and some necessary restructuring they did get right like introducing Bard earlier instead of pulling him out of nowhere.

Throughout The Hobbit trilogy there are moments that shine, enough of them that I probably couldn't count them all off the top my head just now. What I mean is a really good Hobbit movie already exists, in amongst all that messy eye gouging excess. But if PJ was so inclined he could tear all the original film footage down, rinse all that vile colour grading out of it, delete characters wholesale, gut the stupidly long and overly elaborate action sequences to within an inch of their lives, and then carefully piece back together what is left into something much more effective, palatable and just better. But 1, he ain't interested and 2, he doesn't have the raw vision and filmic grasp he once had anyway. It's all there though, if he suddenly had a mind to do it. Those films needn't have been anywhere near as bad as they were. There's plenty of content in existence to make a fine version of Tolkien's The Hobbit.

That'll always be the frustration of it with me.

That may all well be. And yet, I well up when I see Ann look into Kong's eyes for the last time and feel absolutely nothing when Thorin finally leaves the picture.

PJ knew he had a trainwreck on his hands well into production before the first film was even out. The great tragedy is that knowing this, he just had to ride through it.

It's a real shame Del Toro never got to stay on. Though ultimately, that seemed to pay off for him.

Eh, it's a few seconds of a camera test, I'm not going to judge it on this. These days, people seem to judge an entire score on twenty second snippets.

Is it the greatest film ever made? No. But it probably remains my favourite, even if at a more emotional level. It's a film that's played a fundamental role in my formative years and has come to define my love and music in the years to follow in a way that only the very best of films can. So this seems like as fair a choice as any for this absurd title.

I dont get the buzz for Parasite. I have seen it and it is nothing special tbh. I dont know, is it because Hollywood hasnt seen a kind of social juxtaposition thats being presented in the movie or not? ( because i live in SE Asia and those kind of social disparity is our daily consumption; further proof those Hollywood liberals , as per Ricky Gervais said, is out of touch of the real world)

One thing for sure, Oscar and other awards, onward, will prefer to bestow an award for POLITICALLY CORRECT movie, not because of one’s merits ( oscar be like: “hey i give South Korean’s movie the top prize, am i not diverse enough?, this is yuge, this has never been done before!”)

Well i know the underlying message of this political practice is good ( about representation, about how everyone, no matter their race and creed, can also succeed, etc etc), but it is sad nonentheless

    oh well,..

John reacted to PrayodiBA in 92nd Academy Awards (2020 ceremony for 2019 films)
Well, tbh ,Parasite itself is not movie made for politically correct reason. Director's previous movies Okja, Snowpiercer etc also deal with the same issue, so in that case. lets assume its labor of love/ trademark for the director to do these kind of movies. But IMO, in the end, Parasite is not that special of a movie. It's the practice of AMPAS members awarding a movie based on political reasons that i hate.

The Irishman, 1917, Once Upon, Marriage, are movies stem form director's passion and not made for political reasons, and they are also a better movie.

But dont tell the Academy, because they prefer to pat themselves in the back like a good boy they are.
