  1. Has anyone made an edited version of Raiders of the Lost Ark that completely removes Indiana Jones? Since everything would’ve been fine without him.
  2. The scores are exceptional listening, but the movies are embarrassingly pompous (Pocahontas moreso, back when white men making movies ‘discussing’ racism wasn’t as immediately laughed at as they are now). Menken’s (and Ashman’s) work for me peaked with Little Mermaid. There’s an energy and spontaneity to it that’s more polished with Beauty and the Beast and onward, but in turn feels more overtly manufactured and self-conscious.
  3. Instead of talking about another superhero movie score, ya’ll shall play Yoshi’s Woolly World.
  4. Yoshi’s Woolly World is the gaming equivalent to visiting grandma in her cottage.
  5. Just listen to The Omen instead, it’s the same dang thing but without Jason Alexander singing.
  6. Howard Ashman is why Little Mermaid’s great and Aladdin’s good in bits. Menken’s scores are pretty nondescript otherwise.
  7. Baby’s Day Out by Bruce Broughton Wonderful score not served ideally by its 80-minute complete release. Luckily made a 49-minute playlist awhile ago.
  8. I remember trying to put together a top ten favorite games chart and considering Steamworld Dig 2 but wasn't sure as it'd been so long since I last played it. Revisiting, yeah, this is a wonderful game one would hypothetically take to an island. So much to just jump into and explore aimlessly, does so much mechanically and atmospherically within a simple structure.
  9. Revisiting Steamworld Dig 2. I think this one’s a top ten contender for me.
  10. My favorite part of either score is Daffy Gremlin’s theme https://youtu.be/dVeM20cu5zQ
  11. But can you hear coughing?! That’s how you know the sound quality is truly worth it!
  12. Always been happy with the album as is, but I’m obviously not going to say no to Powell listening experiences going on even longer.
  13. Smurfs: The Lost Village by Christopher Lennertz Enjoyed this more than anticipated, though I’m accustomed to lovely invigorating scoring for disposable kiddie fodder.
  14. I prefer the NBC expansion, purely because going straight from Oogie’s song to Sally’s on the OST with no in-between felt strange.
