Official JWFan mock ups and fan-made recordings thread!

Is there a SoundCloud alternative that won't auto-block mockups for copyright? -
Ludwig Göransson & Joseph Shirley's THE MANDALORIAN (2019-present)
Drew replied to Evanus's topic in General Discussion
This one hurts the most. McQuarrie ghosted Kraemer and won’t acknowledge his existence. McQuarrie’s new composer also won’t seem to acknowledge Kraemer. Money is the most likely reason. However, it’s tragic and shameful for Shaymalan to go from JNH masterpieces to the droning noises he commissions for his new films. -

Hopefully it’s not made by the team that desecrated Goldsmith’s Mummy… -
CineSamples' new Brass library is now on the market for the Kontakt version. https://cinesamples.com/product/industry-brass-core I'm not sold on the sound of the demos. However, it's too early to make judgments. This feature looks interesting: "To properly reflect the impact the Newman Scoring Stage has made on our industry, and on music in-general throughout the years, we've included 'color' presets. These presets are designed to shift the sound of Industry Brass to more accurately reflect the different eras of film score that the Stage has helped define. GOLDEN ERA: 30s The iconic Hollywood sound of the 1930s is the product of the technology available at that time, with all its quirks: recording tools, devices, and formats with narrower frequency ranges and higher noise floors than we have today. Lack of multi-track recording meant the entire ensemble recorded with a single microphone resulting in a monophonic recording, this also meant the balance between instruments was achieved via room balancing. TIMELESS: 50s Even though recording was still monophonic, some improvements over the 1930s technology allowed for multi-track stereo playback, lower noise floors, and small improvements in frequency range fidelity. BLOCKBUSTER: 80s The 80s sound is defined by the introduction of Dolby Stereo and THX systems. Dynamic ranges, frequency response, and overall fidelity expanded exponentially. MODERN: Now Represents the sound of the stage today as Damon Tedesco has shaped it."

Ludwig Göransson & Joseph Shirley's THE MANDALORIAN (2019-present)

Change the title to “Ludwig Göransson's THE MANDALORIAN (2019-2020)”. Joseph Shirley is scoring season 3……………. -
They should have hired Natalie Holt to score half of Obi-Wan instead of her male assistants.

This is technically nothing. JW has been clinging to this i-iii-ii-V-i melody idea for several of his new themes. Such as Holdo’s theme from TLJ (that horn theme in TLJ album credits track). And Anthem of Evil is very similar. He is starting to self-reference like Horner more often.

THR: Warner Bros. Discovery might be combined with NBCUniversal

There is more reporting on it as of this morning. Didn’t realize there was a paywall. The article loaded fine for me when I got the link. -

John Adams wrote an opera about president Richard Nixon instead of president John Adams. What a missed opportunity. -

Natalie Holt is Spitfire Audio-run Composer Magazine's composer of the year. I wish I was making this up. "As we approach the end of 2022, there's one composer who has consistently impressed us with her passion, versatility and modesty in the face of soaring success." https://composer.spitfireaudio.com/en/articles/natalie-holt-reflects-on-her-scores-to-date-why-she-loves-composing Composer Magazine also took the cowardly route and blocked someone on Twitter who called out their nonsense.

Tired of these crybabies in classical music hating on great soundtrack music -
Right now I don't use much reverb at all besides a little bit of reverb included with plugins, sometimes. It's doable since my libraries are all recorded in decent sized spaces.

We're two albums away from a Spider-Man 3 score album.

Not going to lie, Metropolis Ark 1 looks really solid for anyone just starting out.

I was hoping for the Berlin Series to be on sale again. I don't understand Orchestral Tools' logic with such infrequent sales. All it does is helps their competitors.
-
Cinematic Studio Series is on sale for 25 percent off. In regards to programming, these libraries are the best of the best. The tone is also spot-on for a lot of use cases. I personally think Cinematic Studio Woodwinds is the best-sounding woodwind library out there. Surprised to not see any discussion of Cinematic Studio Brass here yet. Be warned, they are a bit dry. Making a custom mic mix with the room and main mics turned up all the way helps a lot. Cinematic Studio Percussion is slated for release next year or in 2024. https://cinematicstudioseries.com/ Cinesamples is having an insane 65 percent off sale! https://cinesamples.com/

Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition is on sale for 60 percent off. https://www.soundsonline.com/orchestral/hollywood-orchestra-opus-edition If you want a cheap choir, check out Spitfire Originals Epic Choir. Only 30 dollars. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/originals-epic-choir

Another reason why composers should own dual copyright of their own music in "work for hire" situations
