  1. Somehow, I only own one Thomas Newman score! It's "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". I've heard loads of his music on streaming and in movies. My only Trevor Jones is "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". My only Randy Edelman is "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor". My only Olivier Deriviere is "Remember Me". My only Mark McKenzie is "The Greatest Miracle". My only Elliot Goldenthal is "Batman Forever". My only Basil Poledouris is "Starship Troopers". Of course, I'm familiar with his "Conan the Barbarian" music but don't own it yet. My only Craig Armstrong is "The Incredible Hulk". My only Johann Johannsson is "The Theory of Everything" My only Joel McNeely is "Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire". My only John Barry is "Dances With Wolves". Yea, it's embarrassing to only have one Barry score. I've heard a lot more from these composers via music streaming.
  2. I'm not all that fond of Williams' concert music either. I wish he would channel his soundtrack style into it.
  3. Just throwing this out there in case anyone wants to help out. There is a horror soundtrack documentary that needs about $2,000 more of a $40,000 budget with 8 hours to go. If they don't meet the criteria in 8 hours, they won't get a penny of the money raised. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scoredtodeathmovie/scored-to-death-the-dark-art-of-scary-movie-music
  4. Wikipedia's sourcing requirements have made me angry so many times. I can't count how many times I added information that was completely factual, only for it to be deleted by a page-watcher who accused me of "original research". Because obviously, every fact about soundtracks will be published by reputable sources? Of course not!
  5. The horn patch's legato that I used is a bit sluggish. Not much can be done other than space out more notes. I thought the tone was very similar to the recording.
  6. * Cinematic Studio Strings 1.7, which added an updated legato mode (I think I used it right?) * Randy's Celeste, the only legit Harry Potter celeste sample * Tom Holkenborg's Brass - 6 horn patch There was next to no programming here. Just out of the box MIDI playback with pre-delay adjustments.
  7. This one ended up sounding a lot more legit than expected https://soundcloud.com/user-855915569/hp-1-logo
  8. Everything has to be connected nowadays. James Bond Cinematic Universe
  9. I would prefer another serious spy thriller Bond with an actual planned plot for the whole saga of films.
  10. They probably sound alright on speakers or a surround sound system, but 1997 ESB and ROTJ are unbearable.
  11. Only a third of it was recorded. Another third was composed and the other third was never composed.
  12. USB-C headphones are a possibility in the future. But I like the position of 3.5mm jacks on the side. Oh, and you can use it and charge the device at the same time!
  13. Now might be your last chance to get an iPad with a headphone jack (iPad 9th generation). Leaks are saying the 10th gen iPad will get rid of the headphone jack and it is said to be released next month.
  14. Only British nationals can be called Sir, but I will call him that anyway.
  15. Two decades later and we still don't know the full story behind who wrote what and how it was spotted.
  16. Lol. I just don't like the kind of music Bach wrote. I don't like pre-romantic period music for the most part.
  17. Wow. What you get out of that room really depends on the quality of the recording and mixing.
  18. Didn't JW listen to a ton of Bach over lockdown? If it translates over to JW's music then that's too bad, since Bach isn't my thing.
  19. Where in LA was this recorded? The room tone sounds too fantastic to be in LA.
  20. I love the phrase "parasite score". Gotta start using that to enhance my opinions.
  21. Remember when all the film music journalists thought Man of Steel was one of the worst scores ever written? Good times. It's a freaking masterpiece compared to what we have to deal with today.
  22. Sounding like Williams and sounding like Star Wars are two different things.
  23. Christian Henson has a history of saying far-fetched or outrageous things. His thoughts are his own. It killed me to watch the initial reaction of hundreds of people saying they will never use Spitfire stuff again because of this.
  24. I don't mind the modern JW recording sound. The only scores that did badly are TFA (way too dry!) and the album mix for The Post. Curious if you all think the sample library CineBrass matches the issues you have with modern JW trumpets. It was recorded in the same room as the SW sequels and may have used some of the same players.
