  1. Movie: TLJ - I actually really liked the direction it went. Probably my favorite Star Wars film in a long while. Score: TFA - TLJ is really good, and I love the underscore, but TFA is more diverse in terms of new themes. Plus what Williams does with his classic material is fantastic as well.
  2. Love the overture, as well as a few cues (Arriving At Sparrow School has some haunting vocals), and end credits. The rest of the ambient stuff, I can take or leave though. There are some great Russian themes and strings in this score though.
  3. The theme song and score are one of the series best.
  4. You Only Live Twice is one of my favorite Bond films, and Educating Rita is also really great. RIP!!!
  5. Black Panther By Gorransson - Still great on second listen. That main theme is one of the MCU's best.
  6. I'm a big fan of Powell's "cartoon music". Sure it can be frenetic (cartoon music in general is), but it's entertaining and frenetic. Plus Powell knows how to compose good themes, and his use of the orchestra is great. He's one of my favorite composers currently working for a reason. Love his HTTYD, Kung-Fu Panda, and Ice Age scores. Chicken Run is also a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to Han Solo, should be good.
  7. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials - Eh, as the second film in a "trilogy", it's passable and forgettable I suppose. - 5 / 10
  8. The Greatest Showman - Preposterous and overblown, everyone involved in the film is giving it their all, and in many ways it's a bit of a train-wreck, but damn I enjoyed the hell out of it. The songs are super catchy, and the energy from Jackman and the rest of the cast is undeniable. - 7.5 / 10
  9. The Breadwinner - Great. The animation is pretty terrific as well. - 8 / 10
  10. Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales - Well it wasn't exactly boring, but this is a franchise that's clearly tired, even Depp is basically going through the motions. How many times are we going to get the same Sparrow revenge plot, and the inclusion of wannabe "Elizabeth", and wannabe "Will", was whatever. Just a mediocre film all-around. - 4.5 / 10
  11. It does look a bit similar in design to the hyenas from The Lion King, though it's based directly off a Mexican Xolo.
  12. It's Dante the dog from Coco (I assume you haven't seen the film yet). I was considering changing my profile pic, but I got a bit too lazy, and just decided to keep it as it is right now.
  13. Wonderstuck - Really liked this. Surprisingly quite nice (I guess I shouldn't be surprised coming from the author of Hugo), and the scenes where it basically acted like a silent movie were pretty genius. Moore is also quite good in a role with limited dialogue. - 8 / 10
  14. It really shouldn't be a comparison. The Mancini Lifeforce score is terrific, and has a lot going for it. The Kamen music is basically synth noodling, only added in because the producers had to go and cut the film for release in NA, while changing some aspects, and the music suffered because of it.
  15. Thomas Newman to ghost-write some cues too.
  16. Whisper of The Heart - One of my favorite Ghibli films. Love how down to earth the whole film feels. It's really a nice romance at its core. - 9.5 / 10
  17. Congrats to Desplat. A well-earned win.
