  1. Black Panther by Ludwig Gorannson - Nice mix of African music, orchestral themes, and funky music. A combination that never feels out of place. Like most modern albums, at times it runs a bit long, but there's a lot of good constant energy and it's got a lot of personality to boot. Good stuff.
  2. We must think of the ultimate plot to get him back to score, from his fallout.
  3. The Ghost & Mrs Muir - Love me old some black and white Hollywood melodrama and this no different. It's good. One of Herrmann's absolute best scores too. - 8.5 / 10
  4. Cool! I've been a fan of Goransson, since his work on Community, which was surprisingly quite good for a sitcom. His themes are usually pretty solid.
  5. Each to their own of course. Regarding the score, I did really like the use of African drums, and there was a decent hero theme as well. I'm a big fan of Goransson's creed, so I hope this make for a great listen outside of the score, like that did. I'll say, Marvel scores for phase 2 are overall quite an improvement over phase 1.
  6. Black Panther - I really liked it. Jordan as Killmonger is by far one of Marvel's strongest villains (he has an actual reasonable motivation, and arc), and the movie has a lot to say in terms of themes and politics, but it never feels overwhelming. Plus the action sequences were great. Possibly in my top five of the MCU (still thinking it over though), the only downside is that for a change the hero is less interesting than the actual villains, still that's minor in the grand scheme of themes. Definitely one of the more impressive Marvel films anyway. - 8 / 10
  7. Lol! I can only imagine. I was fortunate enough to see it without any theater problems.
  8. You Only Live Twice by Barry Cocoon by Horner Brainstorm by Horner Titanic by Horner
  9. My review of Phantom Thread. Honestly it might be one of the most perfect films of 2017. https://dailyuv.com/feed/943100?location=norwich-vt&radius=myStuff
  10. New poster. What's up with Simon Pegg? He seems off. It's also a bit too gray for my tastes. I like it overall though.
  11. It's because animation is still a field, where music is important, and composers are asked to at least be exciting as a result. Live action films on the other hand usually isn't supposed to have music that actually "stands out" as much, and thus the composers follow suit.
  12. Regarding the film, I suppose. It's fun, and I had a good time seeing in the cinemas when I was younger, but I'm not sure I consider it one of my favorite Potter films, if anything it's a good thing Columbus left when he did, his style wouldn't have fit the later films at all. As for the score, yes. It's more then just a "Sorcerer's Stone rehash". There are actually quite a few new themes, and most of them are really strong, Fawkes's theme being a particular highlight, but I'm also a fan of the Lockheart theme. It's a solid score in general.
  13. Darkest Hour - I enjoyed it. Oldman was great, as were some of the supporting performances. I do think the film looked a little drab though, and you could have called it "Big Speeches: The Movie". Still it was effective. - 7.5 / 10
  14. Whoa, WTH? Makes his scores for Blade Runner 2049, and Mother being scrapped, even more disappointing now. This is such sad news too. His score for Sicario is very unnerving, and he could have had a long career ahead of himself. 49 is way too young.
