  2. Brawl in Cell Block 99 - Wow! Fucking Intense. Very good film too. - 8 / 10
  3. Close, but I'll give it to The Last Jedi, just because I enjoyed it more on its own. The last few cues of The Post were freaking fantastic though, and how the score was used in the film, just proves why Williams is a master of drama.
  4. Sad news. Big fan of Morris' work for Mel Brooks, and Elephant Man, among other things. Think I might listen to Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs again later. Morris's "pastiche" skills were great (they'd have to be, just for those Brooks films alone), and his work is really underappreciated in general. RIP!!!
  5. Lol, I just meant just the "promo". I didn't mean to add the "track" thing, I simply wrote it because it was on my mind at the time. Stupid me! I'd really like to see a complete release, but I know that's probably not happening. The promo for Ducktales is good, and what music we have available is great too. Obviously there's much more though.
  6. My review of Call Me By Your Name. https://dailyuv.com/feed/940710?location=norwich-vt&radius=myStuff
  7. Captain Underpants: The First Movie - Surprisingly quite creative and very entertaining. - 7.5 / 10
  8. It was supposed to be, but it doesn't seem to have gone much in the way of actual development, so I wouldn't be surprised if Spielberg is instead attempting a West Side Story remake first, which is something he's been wanting to do for a while anyway. Personally I'm fine with him doing West Side Story first, if only because I've wanted to see Spielberg do a musical for a while now.
  9. Film's actually a period historical drama masquerading as a future sci-fi film. That's the third act twist (too bad this isn't real though!).
  10. The end credits track features the best performance of the X-Men theme by far. I think I listened to it ten times after coming out of the theater. It's great. I also like how he actually used the theme as an action track this time.
  11. Apocalypse's score is also pretty good. I like the material for Apocalypse a lot. Ottman was working on editing Bohemian Rhapsody when the film went into production. I'm guessing Fox wanted a big name composer, and hiring Zimmer made more sense to them.
  12. Mostly cartoons I saw growing-up, specifically Courage The Cowardly Dog, Hey Arnold (yes, a lot of tracks are available, but I want the entire score), Darkwing Duck, the complete Talespin, complete Thundercats, and a lot of old Hanna Barbera stock music, specifically the stuff in Scooby Doo, though the fact that they had re-record a lot of it for the early animated films in the 2000s, makes me worried that the tapes are lost forever. That promo track is good, but I'd like to see a complete release of the score myself. Disney will probably never release it though. Here's a page that goes over at least the first season of Ducktales music. http://kenisu.webs.com/ducktalesbgm.htm
  13. Singer wasn't even going to direct this beforehand, he was working on Bohemian Rhapsody (which he's now been fired from, ahem), and Simon Kinberg is directing instead.
  14. Same with Gregson Williams on Wolverine: Origins, though that score is average at best.
  15. http://collider.com/hans-zimmer-x-men-dark-phoenix-composer/ "“[The set] was actually very tame. Simon directed this one, and came in very prepared, very professional. It was a different energy on set and everything got done like clockwork. It was very seamless. Everybody was a little bit more level-headed, so it was a very pleasurable, light experience. I think the film is gonna be incredible. Hans Zimmer’s scoring it—I don’t know if I was supposed to say that or not. Simon has surrounded himself with incredible people, and Simon knows this world better than anybody, so it was just cool to see him—he’s so happy and in his element in that world, and also being able to direct and guide everybody in this way. I was very happy for him and I think it’s gonna be great.” Guess that "I'm retiring from superhero" business was all for naught. I suppose the large check he received was too good to turn down though. This is rather unexpected too. At this rate Zimmer will score every franchise in existence.
  16. Swing Time - I gotta say, some of the dance numbers in this film are incredible, even by today's standards. Good film too. 7.5 / 10
  17. I probably would have preferred a Post nom, as I found to be the overall more engaging / interesting of the two, but TLJ is absolutely worthy too, and much more surprising. Yep. Williams should have a few more Oscars then he does already. It's not like he's going to win for either The Post or The Last Jedi anyway.
  18. Love The Shape of Water noms. The Phantom Thread love is also quite surprising, probably the biggest surprise of all, given the lack of guild support prior outside of Day Lewis's performance. As a director yes, he previously got script nominations for Memento and Inception.
  19. It's a good film and satire, I just didn't find it funny. Maybe it's a regional thing. The cast was all really good though.
