I love Kiki too, rewatched it a month back as well. Such a simple story, without a 'big villain", but told so-well. -

The Wind Rises is such a beautiful film, and definitely one of Miyazaki's best films, though that's really saying a lot. BTW just started reading the retrospective & it's great. My favorite Miyazaki film is Princess Mononoke, which is an obvious choice, but I'm a fan of most. -

Detroit - 9 / 10 - Very very good. Quite brutal & truthful too. -
It's not very good. I really don't recommend it, but the acting is mostly good.

I also thought she was very good in Joy, despite that film being a "mess".

I actually can see where Not Mr. Big is coming from. For the sequel Cameron could surprise us all, not fair to write the film off entirely just yet anyway.

Yeah, it was so good that I just had to go back and watch it again. Stupid copy & edited technique. -
One of those aliens sorta looks like a bird-creature or something of the sorts to me.

Yup this is a dumb list & a dumb argument. I mean, what notable projects has Badelt done in the last several years, aside from a few Herzog films. -
Damn that Mother trailer is effective.

Yeah, the ending was a lot more emotional then I was expecting. Totally surprised me. Great film though. -

Fun film, dumb yes, but I think the cast gives its all. I enjoy Elfman's retro throwback score too, especially with the use of the theremin. It fits the film like a glove.

Because it's more entertaining for most people to be negative, then it is to positive or optimistic. I try to be as positive as I can, but hey like everyone I've got my own "less then stellar" opinions so to say. I've been watching a lot of great films though, on the plus side.

War For The Planet of The Apes - Wonderful. An excellent way to end a solid trilogy. Incredibly cinematic and downright dark (I can see why audiences are turned off). Harrelson is terrifying too. - 9.5 / 10 -

Waterworld is a must have. One of JNH's finest for me.
