  1. Midnight Express - Hard subject matter, but an exceptional film. - 8.5 / 10
  2. RBG - Great documentary about an interesting indiviual who fought for women's rights, and then humans right. Learned a lot about Ginsburg, more then I expected to. - 8 / 10
  3. A Night in Casablanca - Average Marx Brothers film, but pretty entertaining nonethless. - 7 / 10
  4. Papa Johns and Pizza Hut are both garbage. One is just less "bad", then the other.
  5. Been listening to this podcast lately. Really interesting and good. Goldsmith's one of my favorite, and this podcast is a great exploration of his work. Also there needs to be more podcasts dedicated to singular film composers. So much interesting stuff you could explore, both in film, TV, and even concert / album work.
  6. It sounds so much better then Giacchino's Rogue One, which I did enjoy. Not only are the orchestrations so much richer, but the melody and hook is a lot better, that it makes Giacchino's work, seem like amateur cartoon music in comparison.
  7. Hangman (2017) - Quite frankly, pretty poor. One of Pacino's worst. Urban was pretty good, though. Otherwise I couldn't care less for this. - 3.5 / 10
  8. You're going to see it, and you're going to like it, if it's the last thing you do. God help us all!
  9. Saw Deadpool 2 this weekend, really enjoyed it. My review https://dailyuv.com/feed/958093?location=norwich-vt
  10. My thoughts. Wyatt Earp - It's fine. Great score and production design, plus a superb cast, but a little too long, and kinda aimless. I haven't seen Paper Towns, not really my kind of film honestly. Carrie - Not a fan. Failed to capture what made the 1976 version work so well. Performances aren't bad, but as far as remakes / readaptations of old Stephen King novels, I didn't much care for it. Mean Girl - Classic. One of the movies that probably defined the mid 2000's for a lot of teens / young adults. Sharp script, and performances (Rachel McAdams being a particular standout), plus it features Lohan before she went crazy. I've seen it several times, and I still highly recommend it. It's endlessly quotable and hilarious.
  11. I agree. Lincoln is fantastic. Rewatched it a few months ago, and loved just about everything about it.
  12. Aside from all his other animated scores, Paycheck, and Evolution are two that I regular listen to, and can highly recommend. Both scores are a lot of fun.
  13. Ferdinand by John Powell - First time listening to this. This is really good.
  14. Last Flag Flying - Solid film about returning soldiers and the effects. Despite the premise, it's actually quite funny and lighthearted at points, though it never forgets about the effects of war, and how it changes people. A good Linklater effort. - 7.5 / 10
  15. My favorite live-action Lois Lane. She got the characters feisty and fun personality down really well. Her battle with mental illness and subsequent charity work should also be noted, and I also thought she was great in DePalma's Sisters, a solid Hitchcockian thriller, with a great Herrmann score. RIP!!!
  16. Magic Mike XXL - Surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It's like they took the complaints of the first being too dour, and not featuring enough "strip" scenes, and decided to make a dumb stupid road trip comedy out of it. Kinda amazing actually. - 8 / 10
  17. Aladdin Home Alone 2 Batman Returns Bram Stroker's Dracula Sneakers With plenty of honorable mentions, and few scores I really need to listen to again (Alien3 for example).
  18. Magic Mike - Liked this a lot more on rewatch then I expected to. Still need to see the sequel, which I've heard good things about, but haven't seen - 7 / 10
  19. Music sounds fantastic. I also love the use of the asteroid field cue at the end of that clip.
  20. I only started exploring Rubinstein's work a year ago. He only did a few major films, but he definitely left an impression on the movies of his that I've seen. He actually colloborated with John Badham on several films, nine in total. War Games and Blue Thunder are great, but i quite enjoyed his music from The Stakeout films, but could never them anywhere, outside of a hard to find composer promo thing he did. Thankfully somebody did upload a suite from the score, six days ago. RIP!!!
  21. My review. https://dailyuv.com/feed/954190?location=norwich-vt
  22. True. I think that had to do the source material, and the fact that a lot of the music he was quoting (King Kong, Godzilla etc...), is generally associated with those characters, much less so in the case of Infinity War.
