  1. The choirs, in addition to the themes related to Snoke, appear in the last quarters of the movie, in two very dramatic and intense action sequences - one related to

    Spoiler

    Finn

    , the other to

    Spoiler

    Luke.

I can't say that the load of emotions and beauty is as big as in "Anakin's Betrayal", I won't go that far, but it sounded big and effective. I  just have to repeat that these are short fragments, lasting approximately 30-40 seconds. Whether and in what form they will be on the album, I have no idea.

Personally I think the 3 CD version is the best

It has the closest movie gell I have heard across different versions, then as an added bonus you get on CD 3 different artists with their interpretations

Pretty sure this compilation has been engineered better too, it seems brighter and also has ore depth to it imo

I agree, this is the best option. One note - the third CD contains an entirely new Vangelis album, composed by him, not "different artists with their interpretations". And it's a wonderful  music, only occasionally referring to orgiinal Blade Runner score

Should I buy this now or wait until later to bundle it with CE3K?

Well, more than half have gone, but we have to include all the shops  that ordered it for themselves. It's hard to say, but it’s possible that within days or weeks it will disappear. It’s always better to combine shopping and get several CD's in one order. Ordering on other continents is very expensive, so I usually order with a few friends from my country, film music fans, and then shipping costs are minimized. Of course not everyone has that possibility.

  4. I have both CD's: Denouement Records (2002) and the Pilfink Records (2013) and have to admit that I definitely prefer the latter. First of all, because the sound or of the Jouko Harjanne's trumpet is much more pleasant to the ear than Arturo Sandoval's, at least in this composition. It's a bit warmer, and less cracking (I'm not sure if that's the right word). But Denouement Records contains fantastic Essay for Strings and is therefore absolutely essential.

Not sure why you would think this would include material written something like 8 years later for a ride.

Because it seems to be a logical solution, at least to me. Besides, Mike Mattesino seemed open to the idea.

This would have made a nice 2nd CD in itself and if they had done this in 2002 there would also have been the opportunity (and the space) to add both Walter Murphy's disco version (which MCA Records owns) and the music Williams recorded for the "E.T. Adventure" ride.

    Wow! Really amazing collection!

So how many CDs do you have altogether? And do you mostly collect film scores? Or other genres as well, like classical music, jazz, etc.?

Thank you :) I have about 2600 albums, including slightly over 1500 soundtracks. The rest are mostly heavy metal, but also some rock classics. Plus a touch of classics and jazz. Probably there are still 200 or 300 albums that I would like to add to my collection. Not more. I think I'm a little picky ;)Of course, in the future it may change a bit.

By the way, I work as a music and film journalist, and sometimes I'm also interviewing composers like Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, Jan AP Kaczmarek, Abel Korzeniowski, and my recent conversations with Howard Shore and James Newton Howard are awaiting publication. I guess I should write something about myself in another thread. ;)

Wow, you really must be an avid soundtrack collector!

Care to post a pic of your soundtrack collection? 😄

Goldsmith is at the bottom right of the wall, Williams is on the second shelf from below, and on the next shelves are rock albums, mostly with heavy metal (my favorite genre, along with film music). On the left are the soundtracks by other composers. Generally speaking, I only have the CD's I want to have, but in the case of Williams and Goldsmith I try to be a completist. Well, almost all their albums are worth it  :) On the left side at the top are mostly blu-rays. The third most represented composer in my collection is James Newton Howard (82 scores).
