Warner Classics will release John Williams Reimagined, a new album featuring music by the Academy Award-winning composer arranged for chamber trio of flute, cello, and piano. The 2-CD set is produced by Robert Townson and the music is performed by flutist Sara Andon, cellist Cécilia Tsan, and pianist Simone Pedroni. The album covers Williams’ career from his early Emmy Award-winning score for the 1970 television film Jane Eyre to the main theme of 2022’s The Fabelmans, and includes such titles as Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Jurassic Park, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Hook, The Accidental Tourist, The Witches of Eastwick, Dracula, The Sugarland Express, The Patriot and War Horse. A first track (Over the Moon from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial) has just been released today and is now available to stream/download now on all major digital music services and can also be checked out after the jump.

I managed to buy this at the Japanese Ark Square store, along with Avatar the Way of Water. They still seem to have it in stock. ($32.80)

I just don't know whether the disc will be defective or not, because I don't remember whether Varese pressed all of them with an error and then sent replacements to all customers and stores, or whether it concerned only the first copies and then they sold the corrected ones. I wrote to Ark Square to add a replacement if they have it.

We have got the lot of the amended second pressings for "CITY HALL".

Of course it is because it wasn’t a limited release! But many (most?) of us Goldsmith fans find that his music plays differently — and usually better — in complete form.
 
The original album for The Russia House was only missing what, 10 minutes of music? But those 10 minutes added back in added much needed variety to the score, and made the complete score listening experience feel more enjoyable and actually shorter than the original hourlong album, IMO.

I'm sure this hasn't sold out. It's been cancelled. There was no warning, it disappeared due to Varese moving to a new location, and then didn't return. 250 Goldsmiths in the collection, but not this one. Pity. I'm left with the first edition. I'll never put off buying any Goldsmith or Williams again.

In a couple of months, I'll be celebrating my '30th anniversary' of being a John Williams fan and collector.
 
Growing up with films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and E.T., I've been intrigued by Williams' music since childhood, but it was during the Spring of 1993 that I became a true and devoted fan.
 
My life was very different 30 years ago. I was still living with my parents, attended the final year of high school, had hair on my head and I had no idea how my life was going to turn out. 
 
I look back on 30 years filled with significant events, ranging from wonderful to not so great. I became a teacher and headmaster, got married to a beautiful wife, bought a house, lost my stepfather and grandparents, traveled the world, became father to an autistic son and successfully overcame an episode of depression.
 
The music of John Williams has been an integral part of my personal journey and has always had a positive effect on me. 
 
Today I had some photos taken of my entire collection, something I've been wanting to do for years. I hope you will enjoy them and here's to the next 30 years! 
 
 
 
 

Same as the Japan concert (Matsumoto or Tokyo, both filmed): possible, but not certain. Maybe Pittsburgh has a slightly better chance of being released on Blu-ray because of Anne-Sophie Mutter's participation. For now, we only have the premiere on Stage+.

Was there any encore played at the end, after "The Imperial March"? (Unlikely, of course)

Hedwig’s Theme for Violin and Orchestra and it was marvelous!

Here are some of mine! Love that Williams surprised Anne-Sophie with Happy Birthday at the end!

A truly magnificent evening! The Maestro was in top form and still sharp as a nail (except only a couple self-described “senior moments”, and during one I helped him remember Sean Connery’s name!). The new version of “Scherzo” was great fun and very much tailored for Anne-Sophie’s style, but the bigger highlight for me was the new version of “Anakin’s Theme” that was also done for her. It took the changes from the version debuted at Tanglewood this past summer and greatly expanded on them, ending on a haunting harp rendition of the Imperial March very similar to what’s played when the character dies at the end of Return of the Jedi - a truly unexpected and chill-inducing callback!
