Just came in here to say this score sucks and it is an injustice Goransson gets so many opportunities whilst an infinitely more talented Justin Hurwitz doesn’t get anything.

Very sad news indeed One of the greats.
Monastery of La Rabida is such a beautiful composition.

We stopped caring because people like Zimmer get these awards. We only care to say why don’t care. We are sad that the Oscars used to mean the most talented people got awarded. Now it’s all about PC. JNH wasn’t even nominated. A person who uses an entire stable of ghostwriters gets the award. We would like to care, but decisions like this make us not care. I don’t see anybody melting down. I see people expressing their opinions. If you don’t like it, that’s your problem.
Cry more.

For something that is supposedly ‘not relevant’ and ‘not of interest or importance at all’…you lot certainly love crying and bitching when it doesn’t go as desired.
With that being said: all these awards are indeed a waste of time. Only upside is a bit of schadenfreude when people have a meltdown (as showcased in here) over something they pretend to not care about.

Feels like he was asked to post this.
“I did not like reading that as it goes against the narrative I’ve been trying to push. Therefore I’m going to make up some shit to devalue it.”

If Gia can sustain this cool noirish thriller vibe throughout the whole score, I’ll be able to forgive him an underwhelming Batman theme. And even then I’m looking forward to any adaptations and arrangements he may have for that theme other than what we’ve heard from the singles.
He’ll develop that Batman theme in the sequel for sure.
In other news: Disney suing WB for using the Darth Vader theme in Batman 2.

40 seconds in and I already want to kill myself.
How do you even mess this up, had a great theme to work with and they come up with this shit.

It's a common theory among JW fans that Rowling didn't like Williams' HP scores and prevented him from scoring the final movies. I don't know how true this is, but we have a whole thread debating the issue:
Okay so based on literally nothing.

Except for Brian Eno, apparently, and J.K. Rowling.
Wait what did I miss, JK Rowling talked shit?

That was rather boring.

I do too and I'm sure plenty would want to hire him, it seems more like he doesn't want to work with anyone else.
Iirc in one interview he said that he would like to work with others. Guessing he just isn’t getting the opportunity. What a shame.

As for No Time To Die ... well, in a saner world than ours the sullen and mumbly 19 year old with hair that looks like a highlighter pen has leaked all over it at a studio would be the intern who does the coffee runs, not the artist.
It wasn’t enough just to say: I don’t like it. You needed to be an asshole. Well, good job.

You people are a circus.

And his work was mediocre, to put it mildly. A huge step down from Greg Edmonson's scores for the trilogy.
I still don't understand why he wasn't asked back for U4/LL.
Honestly I thought that too when I first heard it but it has grown on me.
This movie looks ass anyway, hopefully we’ll at least get a good score out of it. I’m surprised Sony isn’t more protective of what is arguably their biggest franchise.

He also sucks out every bit of character out of all the…characters. Everyone has this weird reservedness (?) about them in his movies, standing around and delivering their lines as boring as can be. Until you can barely tell one character from the other, only visually.
In the books people are way more talkative, Yates has them standing around a bunch and looking all doom and gloom.
This series could have been so much better and more, had we had a competent director and writer pairing throughout. Instead we got this weird botched Frankenstein, where the only real good one is Azkaban due to Cuarons directing.

I think John Powell could write a rockin' Thor score!
He doesn't like to score films where people solve their problems with violence any more, though. What a pussy.

I'll add my voice to that too, Radcliffe's seems like a lovely guy.
Also HBP and OOTP have great scores too, sue me.
See you in court.
I actually also like HBP (the score that is), can’t remember much of OOTP.
Yates was the worst thing for the franchise though. Just our luck he was the one who got to do a majority of the films. Wish we got Cuaron/JW at least for the final two. Though I do like what Desplat did overall, but still.

Huh, didn’t expect this to happen ever but very happy it will. Love that series and both ATLA and Korra have great music.
Which reminds me: how come Zuckerman didn’t get any gigs after the series ended?
