Caliburn got a reaction from apples in 'A Celebration of John Williams in Concert' - Royal Albert Hall, October 26, 2018 (CONDUCTED BY DIRK BROSSÉ)
    Dear Customer,
A Celebration of John Williams in Concert - Friday 26 October 2018

Unfortunately, owing to a last-minute illness, John Williams greatly regrets that he is no longer able to conduct this concert with the London Symphony Orchestra.
John travelled to London but was taken ill and is in hospital, where he is receiving very good care. It is his wish that the performance should go ahead, and his colleague and dear friend Maestro Dirk Brossé has kindly agreed to conduct the LSO for this very special event.
    Mr. Williams’ management said:
"John is so sorry that an illness prevents him from conducting Friday's concert, and he’s grateful to his friend Maestro Dirk Brossé for taking the podium in his place. He so wishes he could be with everyone, and the knowledge that 5,000 of his friends will be joining together to celebrate his music is a great comfort to him as he recovers. He wishes everyone a very joyous evening of music.”
Brossé is Music Director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and John Williams chose him as Principal Conductor of the Star Wars in Concert World Tour.
The Royal Albert Hall, London Symphony Orchestra and Dirk Brossé wish Maestro Williams well for a speedy recovery.
We do hope that you will enjoy this very special evening. If you have any questions please contact the box office on 020 7589 8212 with the name and order number attached to your booking.
If you have booked Hospitality tickets we will contact you directly.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Royal Albert Hall on Friday.
    Yours faithfully,
    Royal Albert Hall

For who wants to get tickets. These are my steps what I have done to get them. Of course, I am not giving any guarantees, but you can try it out.

RAH has two website that look like one:
The concert page itself with the link to the tickets. https://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2018/an-evening-with-john-williams-in-concert/ Your account page https://tickets.royalalberthall.com/... (this one has the queue system) What I did was logging in 45 minutes before the tickets went on sale and I entered the queue at spot 77. That counted down pretty quick and I was able to log in. Now comes the hard part: you need to keep logged in. If you don't, you have to relog and enter the queue again. I kept my connection alive by just clicking between "My Account" and "My Order History." with intervals of 20-30 seconds. Yes, I did that for 45 minutes and at 9 AM sharp I clicked the "buy tickets" on the concert pages and I could buy my tickets.

Unfortunately, this new wave has the problem with priority members who can buy an hour before. The queue will probably be very long before the tickets go even on sale.

Good luck ticket hunters. But sometimes it is not just luck, it can also be commitment... and a bit knowledge about websites 🙂

I believe thats the original version of the Symphony actually. Which was written for concert band.

Exactly. In 2000, it was orchestrated for the full symphony orchestra and recorded by the LSO.

I just returned from the MOSMA festival in Spain. It was quite magical as you can see. I think that Powell has signed around 300-400 times in about an hour.

Sadly no interview though, but that was probably too much to ask 🙂

I think the 15-minute late start was common. We had the same long wait in Amsterdam. We Dutch like to be on time for everything, which is not a common trait in other places in Europe.   I have been to quite some concerts over the word where they had to start late because of people still coming in. My guess is that they start late by default. I will work on my report tomorrow, but mine will take a while (two languages and proofreading) and will probably be online after the weekend.

Being one person that runs a site (with help from others), I have stepped away from the award idea and called it my favorites. To me, "awards" sound very formal where a committee of judges decided who is the winner instead of one person.

I wish I had that moment again. Just watched the movie again this weekend. Stand-alone the music is fantastic, but in the movie it is even better. I love the sequel just as much, it is a great evolution from the first score.

It is quite normal for the Royal Albert Hall to send out e-tickets months after they have been purchased, so no need to worry at all if you have received only the order confirmation e-mail at the time of purchase.  It is always possible to have the e-tickets resent anyway if the e-mail goes missing or if you delete it by mistake; if you log into your account on the Royal Albert Hall website, click on the 'My Orders' link and view your order(s), you will see an option for 'Re-print this order' if the e-tickets have already been despatched.  This does not cost any extra.

The gallery tickets are always the cheapest tickets, as they are high up and it is unreserved standing.  My guess is that they would cost £40 tops if that section were made available.  There is no way they would charge the same price as for the stalls or arena.

You can get a fantastic view from the Gallery, but it does depend on getting in the queue early and running up the stairs to get one of the best vantage points.  The Gallery is actually very deep from back to front - if you have seen it only on TV you could be fooled into thinking it is a narrow walkway, but the 'concourse' is much deeper than on the other levels.  It is obviously best if you can get to the front and stand by the railings between the arches.  Your view is then at least as good as from the back row of the Circle (in fact you are close enough to the back row of the Circle to be able to chat to your fellow concertgoers below you in the interval).

Realistically, you could probably only stand two deep in the Gallery if you wanted to see anything much of the stage.  However, at the Proms you will often see Prommers in the Gallery sitting on the floor and just chilling while the sound drifts up to them from the stage below.  I recall seeing a Prommer in the Gallery air conducting an entire Beethoven concert by himself from the orchestral score as the orchestra played below - needless to say he was the only person in that particular archway!

To give you some idea of the view from the Gallery, I took this photo from the very back row of the Circle at the John Williams Proms concert last year.  The view from the Gallery is just a little bit higher up than this.  It is not the best photo, but you should be able to make out the people standing against the railings in the Gallery.
