  1. I'm curious if anyone else feels the Hidden World DE has a really weird EQ (esp. compared to the OST). Granted, I've only listened in my car so far, but it seems like the modern smiley-face EQ is fairly exaggerated on this album. Missing a lot of the mids. I really noticed it when I got to my favorite little trumpet part at the end of Armada battle (7:33 of ost). People have pointed out the brass richness in Powell's scores, and I miss that on the DE. This type of EQ definitely fatigues the ear faster as well. There's less clarity between layers and it's already very dense.
  2. Sweet! What's the journal called? /is there a website, or call for papers?
  3. Wait.... WHAT?! When they said it wouldn't even be available until August 9? I've been travelling a lot so obviously I put a reminder in my calendar for that day and forgot about it. My calendar deceived me
  4. I would be very interested in the piano arrangement when you're done! I can trade you an advanced Marion's Theme.
  5. Just to add to the endless DoD covers, here's one with the same exact format as the original, but where the logo definitely should have been
  6. Not many people know that when Spielberg showed JW Schindler's List, ...
  7. Just saw it again. It feels much quicker the second time, in a good way. This should win for editing honestly. But I did have to drive half an hour outside of the major city I live in!
  8. I went with my brother, who enjoys probably all the Spielberg movies he's seen, but is by no means a "film person." He loved it. He was raving about the exact things that I wanted to compliment before I even said anything. I think there are a lot of layers to appreciate in this movie. It hit us both as intensely personal but in the best sense, like a well-crafted life's work project. And at the same time, it hit on raw, relatable themes of growing up and pursuing dreams and navigating family. Very real and authentic. This all sounds fairly pretentious- but like I said, it impacted my aggressively un-pretentious brother in the same way.
  9. I would guess in person, but there may be a virtual option. At least that's what I've seen similar conferences do recently.
  10. Anyone else doing this? So exciting! Call_JW_english.pdf
  11. It's got the same headings as the signature editions, with the composer listed as JW and no mention of an arranger
  12. Apparently the movements are 1. Psalm of the Sith, 2. The Rise of Skywalker, 3. Rey and Ben, 4. Speeder Chase
  13. It wasn't even on the DSO website! And the program said music from rise of skywalker, but didn't say anything like "premiere of the suite". You'd think they would have made it a bigger deal.
  14. So this was barely advertised at least from what I've seen, but apparently the DSO did a Star Wars concert at Meadow Brook last night (over in Rochester MI) and they premiered the Rise of Skywalker suite. A musician I know snapped a pic of the part and it's JW. Was anyone there? Any details? Any cell phone in pocket snippets? Apologies if this was discussed elsewhere, I didn't find a thread on it yet!
  15. It says they have "0 available" when I try to buy. That can't possibly be true, right? It's only been two hours
  16. I actually hate this post JUST for the "Isolated Scores" part, since that's all I saw before clicking
  17. And is it just me or did they never actually acknowledge the fact that all of humanity was wiped out during the previous 2-part finale and it was never fixed?
  18. Here it is copy/pasted: 1415239302_MoviesTV2020-11-2521-30-41.mp4
  19. I just assumed it was my disk drive which is not excellent. But could be, that doesn't usually happen. It did work eventually!
  20. I did have to re-rip the last couple tracks, some of them multiple times, before it would stop skipping. But it eventually worked fine, and works in my car too.
  21. Red Planet (it just has everything) The Ferry Scene Epilogue
  22. Agreed. Call me old-fashioned but CDs are practically the only thing I listen to in my car. It's also the best way to memorize an album.
