  1. Will have to check it out, thanks Thor! Yep, very impressive!
  2. The score to The Force Unleashed has some very good imitations as well, but I can tell it's not QUITE the same:
  3. Who's the best John Williams imitator out there? We've heard several composers try to imitate his style but it's certainly not easy to pull off. Some may be able to imitate his orchestrations, but obviously fall short in other respects. So who in your opinion would you say has managed to make you go "hey, that's not a half bad imitation" or: "I can't believe it's not John Williams!" ? I think the first time someone genuinely had me thinking it was Williams, was Gordy Haab's music for the first EA Battlefront (2015)
  4. Nah it made sense to me, it was more the musical echo of the location they were in, than a reference to Vader himself.
  5. The Phantom Menace was the last time Lucas really tried to expand the Star Wars universe IMO, after that it was back to basics with stormtroopers, Imperial March, fairly predictable stuff. I think TPM doesn't get enough credit really, it's a nice family movie and I always thought that. Attack of the Clones is truly bad, easily the worst Star Wars movie to this day. ROTS was pretty decent but I think TFA is better, personally.
  6. I don't think we've seen a Star Wars movie with this much editing in the score since Attack of the Clones. Not that I have a specific number or anything, it just feels like it.
  7. I was under the impression Artie Kane conducted a lot of it. Anyway point stands: it doesn't matter much who conducts a film score, to me at least. So much truly great film music was not conducted by the composer. It's great that Williams mostly has done it himself, but I don't think less of a score or album when he doesn't.
  8. I dunno man. Tbh I don't mind who conducts all that much, David Arnold is one of my favourite composers, Jurassic Park is one of my favourite scores and Williams didn't conduct that
  9. Hell yeah the rythmic motif (I think it was a motif?) for the Knights of Ren was really awesome. Made them seem really threatening.
  10. Love the part at 1:43 in Fanfare and Prologue, when you first see Kylo's fighter approach the Sith Temple. Sounds so sinister! The brass in this score has a really robust sound to it! Could the Speeder Chase clip have been from an older cut of the film, since rescored by Williams? Because the music that was there, I couldn't recognize at first viewing.
  11. Rise of Skywalker more like The Retcons of the Jedi (I liked it fairly OK but the retcons of TLJ were silly)
  12. Well this movie sure exists. I prefer TLJ and TFA both to this. TROS is a very JJ Abrams film, with plenty of really good character moments. I didn't love the action which is surprising to me, TFA had good action. Adam Driver is the MVP of all three movies, he nails it (but Kylo doesn't nail Rey to the disappointment of many fans I guess). Enjoyed seeing Palpatine again, he was even more comically over the top this time.
  13. Nah I just interpreted it as Kylo having an inner dialogue with the memory of his father, no "force" involved
