Great point! Come to think of it, I never really hear that criticism leveled at other composers. Which as you point out is incredibly ironic since many other composers don't have a single actual "tune" in their whole score, let alone an "epic" one.

Check out the violins at 1:30 in TFA's "I Can Fly Anything" (OST) or better yet, the trumpets at 1:18 in "The Resistance" (FYC). Then go back and listen to that 3:09 spot in "Escape". Same melodic motion, the rising notes returning down to the same pitch.

Does anyone know what the horn triplet theme/motif is at 3:34 in "Main Title and Escape" and 1:32 in "The Battle of Crait" (and maybe other places too)? Is that just a shared motif or does it seem to be associated with a character? Also, different musical material but 4:48 and 3:33 in the same two tracks (respectively) are also the same.

Unless you're hearing something I'm not, that's one of Kylo's themes from TFA.

This is why I'm glad I'm listening to the OST before seeing the film. I'd rather go into the film and be surprised by material that wasn't on the OST, than go into the film and come out excited to find certain music on the OST—that ends up not being on there.

I'm getting crazy-addicted to the first 30 seconds or so of "The Supremacy". Always love hearing those prequel-esque trumpet fanfares. Also nice Kylo theme call-and-response with the horns and trombones.

The trailer-trash version was obviously a diff rec/samples, but after listening to the OST I think it was definitely modeled after JW.

Sorry- edited my comment right after I realized I forgot to put which track. It's in track 1. Also, while on the topic, I'm REALLY loving hearing the Resistance theme in 3/4 time at 3:02, same track. Nice change from all previous renditions of the theme.

Did anyone else catch the Poe's theme intervals at 3:09 in track 1? Nice segue-in from the Resistance theme.
