There's only 2 people playing it.
Was the original like this or for full orchestra?
This was a rehearsal.

Some of the proms are. It doesn’t really go well with the acoustics of the building. However my friend told me that they recently updated the sound system in the RAH to a better one, so!

Yeah that was a nice touch.
Where about were you sat? I was interested as to whether anyone else was there who is on the JW Forum

I was there for Raiders too. I loved the Adventures of Mutt interlude between acts. Sad to be missing out on JP

On hot days during the Proms season they sometimes leave jugs of water and paper cups on the shelves in the concourses during the interval (they also do this now at Wembley Stadium, go figure).
Is it alcoholic water?

That's probable.
You really think it’s probable cameramen could sit on seats?

Got an e-mail from the LSO: 'logistically impossible' to record/broadcast the concert. I don't recall this being an issue with the prom last year.
They have a kind-of point. Where would the cameras go if all the seats are booked up/ sold? BBC Proms has a designated area on the arena floor to hold cameras/camera flying etc

if there were another conductor to share conducting duties, who would it be? I guess the most likely candidates would be Richard Kaufman, Keith Lockhart, John Wilson or even Gustavo Dudamel or Simon Rattle.
Funnily I looked up his dear friend Dudamel the other day- sadly he is conducting another concert in Berlin on the same day, so no chance of it being Dudamel if there is a guest MC

As a first time John Williams live watcher (unlike some of you guys clearly!) I've no idea what to expect from this show. Is there a standard sort of set list that he plays at shows like this or a standard list that he rotates work from?
I've seen people talk about a guest conductor, so is it like the first half is conducted by someone else then Williams comes out for the end?
Super excited about this! (and having quite the Williams year with Close Encounters previously... then Jurassic Park, this show AND Star Wars later)
I imagine if there was a guest conductor it would have been announced alongside the show/part of the concert itself, or at least I like to think so...
However, John Williams I’m sure did a concert by himself earlier this year in February, although I’m not quite sure where (Philadelphia?), so perhaps it will be purely Williams at the Albert Hall. Or perhaps there will be a guest conductor for the first half, which I’m sure will be fine for most of the JWFanners, but I could understand how it may divide opinion..

Not sure if you’re kidding or not but I’m gonna tell you anyway!
When he told Spielberg he needed a better compose for SL snd Spielberg said “I know but they’re all dead”.
How does Johnny always manage to drag that one sentence out into a 5 minute story

So, to the people that bought tickets yesterday for the choir seats: Where the front rows of the choir on sale or where they unavailable from the start?
If they were also sold I guess it would mean we won't get any "Dry your tears Afrika", or "Duel of fates", while if they were unavailable... I guess it would mean there will be a choir 99%?
They were on sale- tried to get them but kept getting sold quickly.

Hi Hans Zimmer,
Could you be more specific when you say "music man". Also, please don't abuse our warm community and lovely forum.

I’ve got 2 seats in the choir, does anyone want to swap them for 2 in the Stalls? Cheers

Nope, all gone.
They’re not visible if you’re not a priority member. Priority people can view the seating arrangements and see and select the choir seats.

Poe’s Theme - although it has similar harmonic language to The Adventures of Han, so we kind of already half have it ..

Something I’ve considered for a while is a tour of the Albert Hall on the afternoon of the concert, with a chance of seeing Williams rehearsing the concert with the LSO that afternoon. Does this interest anybody?

I wonder if the London Symphony Orchestra will return to do Empire next year at the Albert Hall. They’re not touring the UK with Star Wars, understandably. I wonder if they have done any other LTP concerts recently, I don’t recall the LSO being up for these kinda gigs.

Interesting that the Czech National Symphony is touring Jurassic Park around Britain.
They’re oddly doing Indiana Jones right in the middle of their tour too in Birmingham

As horrid as it seems, everyone must’ve had doubts about his appearance at this concert. It understandably is a worry for anyone, especially Mr Williams... Health can deteriorate quickly at such a grand age, so it was anyone’s guess. There’s still life in the old boy yet though!
