In addition to the Anthology and Close Encounters ads and various German ones I also have this in my Williams binder that I have been maintaining for more than 30 years now and that some of you saw when you added one of the last pages with all your autographs on the Milano programme (<3):
 

I saw it was limited to 2500 copies and overreacted, i.e. placed my order directly at Quartet the moment I read the news.

For whatever reason, of all the orders I have made from LLL, this one took the longest to ship out and then get to me, but I'm happy it's here! 
 
I still remember getting the OST as a Christmas present in 1999. I first got into movie scores in 1997 or so, and for some years onward I always asked for soundtracks for Christmas. I remember listening to it when Y2K happened. I think I paused the track briefly to see if the world ended, and then continued onward when it did not. Good memories! I'm excited to dig into this!

A lot of people don't have the Concord set, so I'm struggling to see the angst about this box set release.  JW doesn't really do expanded versions of his scores, and what was included with the Concord set (albeit with the bonus disc) is probably as "complete" as it is likely to get.  Should it include the bonus discs that were "exclusive" to the Concord set - a tricky one as they were supposed to only be available with that set....
 
I'm also slightly sceptical that what you see in the photos is what will be released - they look like placeholders to me, so there *may* be more content, they might be jewel cases, they might be card sleeves... Certainly the jewel cases don't look like the finished article, so who knows? 
 
But.. buy it, or don't buy it - nobody is forcing you. I'm just happy to see a physical format release, and have happily pre-ordered it.

I'd watch it.
 

I think we’re all actually looking at this situation the wrong way. Hear me out. 
 
First, Disney, knowing that they’re responsible for releasing likely the last OST of a great and popular composer’s career, offers the album for sale for approximately 20 minutes on some dark corner of the web instead of allowing preorders on Amazon where it could be gauged what the demand would be. Then they manage to piss off literally everyone interested in the OST—even those who managed to order it—by repeatedly delaying the ship date, encouraging the secondary market extortion of desperate CD completists, and sporadically making additional copies available for sale in a sick game of online retail whack-a-mole that’s been going on for four months now.

After all this, you’d think there’d be nothing left Disney could do to insult and antagonize the devoted CD collecting crowd, but now they spring this “complete” box set of scores of us at a ridiculous price, tempting collectors who missed out on the DoD CD to basically pay 5x the money to get the one disc they actually want. 
 
You gotta admire the sociopathic genius behind it all.

Oh, I agree that the handling of this release is now beyond unacceptable. I park my oft apologist stance in this case - it's ridiculous.
 
I'm not unexcited, but I can't join in with the herd excitement of receiving a CD, I'm afraid. The music is what matters most to me.

This is the most recent JW original soundtrack album. Almost everyone in this forum has been collecting JW albums for decades. This CD is crucial in everyone's collection here. And the way Disney has managed this release is disgraceful.
In fact, I am sorry for you if you can't see any reason for the excitement here.
