Jerry Goldsmith's THE LAST CASTLE (2001) - Intrada 2020
12-Mile Reef replied to Amer's topic in General Discussion
I spent a terrific afternoon chatting to Doug and the other terrific folks at the Intrada office a few years ago while I was on a long shoot in California. It was an absolute pleasure and yes he was wearing the hat! -

McKenzie's contribution is discussed in this great podcast: http://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/6119113-odyssey-soundtrack-spotlight-the-last-castle-200 My copy has just arrived, looking forward to listening to it. -
James Horner's THE LAND BEFORE TIME (1988) - NEW Intrada 2020

Clips sound great, can't wait for this to arrive. And I'm thrilled to see Intrada now supplying high res artwork for both this and 'The Last Castle', hoping this is now standard procedure for them! -
James Horner's THE LAND BEFORE TIME (1988) - NEW Intrada 2020

I also love 'The Land Before Time' and I don't care about the classical influences at all. I actually wonder if in some cases they are intentionally meant to comment on the action, last time I watched the film I remember thinking that there's no way the direct quotes of the trapping the wolf motif from 'Peter and the Wolf' for the trapping of the T-Rex at the end of a children's story is not 100% intentional! -
Did your War of the Worlds (Intrada) arrive defective?
12-Mile Reef replied to Josh500's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
The same issue others have had with the last few tracks of disc 1. Intrada sent a replacement disc out within days of me reporting the fault. Glad most copies appear to be okay. -
WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) 2CD edition from Intrada Records 2020

Ha, no, I ordered 'Mussolini: The Untold Story', 'Casper', 'The Rocketeer' and 'Two Mules for Sister Sara' with it but was saving 'War of the Worlds' as the final one to open and listen to. -
WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) 2CD edition from Intrada Records 2020
12-Mile Reef replied to crocodile's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
At FSM a number of people have reported a defective disc 1 with what appears to be a scratch on the outer edge of the disc that causes the final few tracks to be unplayable. Upon reading this I opened mine to discover that unfortunately I had the same issue so I've contacted Intrada for a replacement. My copy had been sitting unopened since it arrived in Monday (I ordered 5 cds and was saving this one for last) so if anyone hasn't checked their copy yet I would recommend they open it and take a look. Here is a photo of what the damage looks like: -
WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) 2CD edition from Intrada Records 2020

My copy has just arrived to the Netherlands in less than a week from ordering. Extremely surprised it's here so quickly and a bit of a relief as my last transatlantic order took nearly 6 weeks to arrive! Looking forward to digging in to this, the package looks great. -
A very interesting titbit was revealed on this week's 'Inglorious Treksperts' podcast by guest Brannon Braga. He revealed that John Williams was approached by Seth Macfarlane to score 'Cosmos', and he almost did it! I do a lot of work on documentary series and when people have suggested approaching Williams to score them I've always thought the notion laughable so it's interesting to hear that he apparently seriously considered it in the last decade! You can find the discussion at 01:07:10 here: https://anchor.fm/inglorious-treksperts/episodes/MAKING-CONTACT-w-BRANNON-BRAGA-ekleht

Can't wait to get this, the package looks great! For anyone interested in alternate artwork HQCovers posted some terrific ones 5 years ago and I'm excited to soon have a release to use some of them on! https://hqcovers.net/2015/12/29/war-of-the-worlds-by-john-williams/ -
Interesting, frustratingly I just bought the last release a couple of months ago but fair play to them if they are releasing it again from more complete/better sources, always a worthy pursuit. The previous expansion is probably enough for me (and made me appreciate the score much more than the OST had) but I'll take a listen to any new music this release has and go from there.

Label Threads The Official Intrada Thread

Roger previously said on FSM that 'Land Before Time' is in the works so fingers crossed it comes together at some point. "Both Land Before Time and American Tail have been on our list with UMG for years. They'll eventually get done, but these co-productions between UMG and Universal take a lot of time and patience." https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=120204&forumID=1&archive=0 -
John Williams & the Vienna Philharmonic: January 18/19 2020
12-Mile Reef replied to Ricard's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
You can watch it as a 'visual album' on Apple Music/iTunes. I would have much preferred them to release it as a straightforward release in the movies section as other concerts have been though. -
John Williams & the Vienna Philharmonic: January 18/19 2020

There's so much negativity in this thread that it's bumming me out and I think I'll avoid it until I've seen the concert for myself. I'm not saying that we shouldn't be critical but surely we can enjoy this for what it is rather than nitpicking about what it isn't? It's the first time we've had a complete concert conducted by John Williams on Blu-Ray and it's with one of the best orchestras in the world! My copy is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to sit down and enjoy it. -
Just one more Williams score per studio, which would you pick?

Intrada seem to be in with Sony too, they did 'Legends of the Fall' recently but I think there have been others as well.
