Brando reacted to Tom in Which new theme in Dial of Destiny are you most anxious to hear?
One of my favorite brief musical moments of the franchise is when the heavenly ark music instantly transforms to terror with the death angels. I think I am looking forward to the Dial theme (assuming there is one), but little moments like that are just as fun.

When your friends make millions on the new Star Wars movie after a couple hours of work but you have to work on the whole film for the better part of a year:

Oh man this is a tough one. Since no one else mentioned it, I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing the villains demise. One reoccurring theme in all 4 soon to be 5 (hopefully and probably) is Indy never takes out the head villain, they all die at their own hands. My favorite cue is The Broken Bridge, since Doom is my favorite in every category, but The Miracle of the Ark is a close second. And each film is different in its own way, so they’re all unique. Plus, theres a 7 foot tall giant trying to take Indy out as well, and I can’t wait to see and hear how he’s taken out.

They couldn't get the licensing for the song from the film, yet they could get his back catalog. Brilliant!!

"And you're in and out of there in, like, an hour."
"Wow."
"Yeah, no, shit's incredible. It's like I'm back in college."
"And what did you say this was called again?"
"LASIK."
"Gotcha."

I am most looking forward to the Cuban salsa source cue in the middle.

Some kind of "reveal". Like in every IJ score there's some sort of reveal where the music swells. "The Map Room" is a good example. Or Indy walking up to the Sankara stones, or the UFO taking off. Etc, etc.

Can't wait to hear the Dial of Destiny theme. So far, Williams never disappointed with the MacGuffin themes from the 4 Indy movies.

Allow me a moment for a short soapbox speech. I have been a fan of Williams since the 80s. Most of us here have been fans first unconsciously and then consciously our whole lives. Given Williams's initial comments about retirement, his commitment only to do the themes for DoD, his age, etc., I think this may very well be his last film. If nothing else, it is likely his last film with many themes and wall-to-wall scoring.
So, embrace threads like these. Speculate and wonder away because this is it--the last time we can do so individually and collectively as fans of Williams.

Update from Maurizio on the podcast episode
Look forward to it. I'm hoping you goes would also bring up a candid discussion on AMISTAD as well.
We felt it would have been shoehorned a tad too much into this, so no talk on Amistad for now.
Btw, the episode will go live this Friday at 10AM PST on thelegacyofjohnwilliams.com!

Brando reacted to Gabriel Bezerra in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (James Mangold, June 30 2023)
He could be less enthusiastic since it wasn't a Disney interview, sounds like he really liked it.

Not that I expected Spielberg to say anything different, but for what it's worth:
Steven Spielberg Watched ‘Indiana Jones 5,’ Loved It and Told the Director: ‘Damn! I Thought I Only Knew How to Make One of These’

Actually, it's more likely that he will reduce the 20-minute setpiece to a 3-minute concert arrangement a la The Forest Battle.

Can you imagine if the Indy 5 OST album opens with a 20+ minute long track?

I wore two neckties on that day. I was told, "Dude, you're supposed to be wearing your pockets inside-out." I told him that's what the kids of 2015 do.
He liked my ties, though.

Brando reacted to DangerMotif in John Williams conducts the New York Philharmonic, April 25, 2023
Steve Martin was also there. The concert was great. I was lucky enough to speak to Mr Williams briefly and he was really nice. You can tell these events are getting really tiring for him.
