KOTCS’s score is so so good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have a feeling that when it gets remastered and expanded, more people on here will come to appreciate it. The recording session leak is awesome, but when we have about the same thing C&C, and in better quality, there’ll be more fans.

Especially now people just keep repeating same arguments (like how the TLJ discourse is still going even though everything that can be said about it has been)

The entire battle is scored, it's just mixed REALLY quietly.

One month to go! Possibly even a little less if the album is out June 28th, as Mangold suggested.

Brando reacted to tee_oh in Unexpected random encounters with the music of John Williams
I've been living in South Korea for 11 years, and one of the reasons I never watch Korean reality TV is because of its constant onslaught of OCD editing.

Basically 99 percent of every a reality or variety show's runtime is filled with onscreen text accompanied by sound effects, and they constantly play 15 to 60 second clips of music, with only a few seconds void of music between each track.

So whenever someone starts talking about a new topic, or has some kind of reaction to something, it switches to some new music.

It's almost exclusively copywrited music from anywhere in the world, sometimes film music, sometimes pop, and sometimes classical, and primarily from western counties. I wonder if the production companies buy some kind of blanket license to allow them to use basically whatever music they want.

I've heard John Williams pieces dozens of times, mostly Harry Potter or Star Wars, to the point where it's no longer an "unexpected random encounter" because I'm always expecting it.

I always get irrationally angry when it's some film music I like because it's taken so out of context that it detracts from the impact of the piece.

For example on some comedic variety show, someone does something in a determined way then the imperial March starts playing. Or when someone on a travel show walks into a European village saying "wooww it's so beautiful" and they play Hedwigs Theme, or test flight from HTTYD if they want it to sound more exciting.

The score for The Last Crusade is packed full with amazing moments that could (and should!) be shared here, but among my favorites there is this wonderful little cue. I just love the fanfare on woodwinds at the end of it!

Been a minute since I posted something here, and I've wanted to post about this one for a while. When I was little, before I knew anything about soundtracks or anything like that, this little moment here was always something I looked forward to when I would watch Temple of Doom. This shot occupies 11 seconds of this 1 hour and 58 minute movie and this is one of the best moments in the score. This shot is one of the reasons why the Spielberg/Williams relationship is so important and amazing, because Spielberg has a good habit of stepping back and letting Williams tell the story in specific moments in his movies. This is the big introduction of Short Round's Theme, and the horns are so absolutely beautiful. There's no dialogue, no sound effects, just the orchestra giving us one of the most joyous and childlike themes ever written.

Opening the sequel prequel to one of cinemas greatest hits with a musical number was one of Spielberg's best ideas. Anything Goes is wonderful and such a fun opening and a great centerpiece for the main titles of the film. I especially love the section as John Williams name pops up, its fast and exciting. And then of course we're treated to the equally delighting Anything Playoff  at 2:46 as the musical number comes to a close
