I just hope Mangold continues the trend and gives the "muscle" character a grizzly death scene

Interesting, I've never heard this before! If you find any more information about this, please post it!
Doom's principal photography ran from April through August 1983, and the score was recorded in LA some time in early 1984, before the film opened in May 1984.
Sanskrit Sacrifice and More Sacrifice were recorded in Boston on the afternoon of Thursday, May 12th, 1983:
Later that night, he conducted this concert:
EDIT: Actually it looks like Max Hobart conducted that night! Maybe Williams had to pass off conducting duties after learning he'd have to spend the week writing these cues for Spielberg...
Incidentally, I've been going through JW's Boston Pops CD released by Philips records, and noticed that many list the recording dates. I wonder if selections from "Out of This World", " On Stage", or "Peter and the Wolf / Nutcracker" were recorded on the same day, or at least the same week....
EDIT 2: I assume these revisions were recorded in LA:
7m1a Sacrifice Sweetener
7m1d Percussion Sweetener - One
7m2d Percussion Sweetener - Two
7m3d Percussion Sweetener - Three

Williams has addressed this. He mentioned that while he was watching a rough cut with Lucas on the scenes in question, he teared up a bit over how poorly edited they were. Lucas said, "I am going to need you to score these," to which Williams replied, "I'd rather be dead."

So, my theory: this may well have been the best take.
There’s photos from the final session that show alcohol was flowing freely in celebration. I wouldn’t be surprised if that started at the customary break halfway through the session, and as a former professional percussionist, let’s just say there’s a number of us who can put away an impressive amount in a short time, especially when it’s free…

Brando reacted to Disco Stu in Harry Potter 7CD Collection - Pictures, unboxing videos, and art design / liner notes discussion
People here might be surprised how many really passionate film score enthusiasts have no idea the specialty labels exist. These labels spend almost nothing on marketing, which is fine, I know this isn't a cash-cow business and their budgets are better spent on the products, but it does mean that it's very hard to reach people that don't already know of their existence. I listened to and knew of only John Williams' major label releases for years and years before very randomly discovering the existence of JWFan and only then did I learn about these limited physical only special editions that actually have all the music.
So what I'm saying is, not only are people newly becoming fans of scores every day, but even long-time fans are newly discovering releases like these all the time.

I think there’s a handful of film score fan blessings:
•This HP set
•The JP set
•9 Star Wars Saga films scores by JW
•6 Howard Shore Middle Earth Scores
•The fact that John Powell got a chance to score (and completely conquer) a Star Wars score with a theme written by JW 😊
•And a soon-to-be score for Indy 5!

Brando reacted to GerateWohl in Who do you want to score Obi-Wan Kenobi? (2022, Disney+)
As we saw in The Mandalorian and now can see in BoBF John Williams' music is the heart and soul of Star Wars. Without it giving life and spirit to the action on screen the people in those silly costumes and masks walking and talking through those weird sceneries just look ridiculous.
It is easier with the animated series. But live action requires some more magic. No visual effects can compensate that. At least currently it looks like that.
Even though I must admit Solo and Rogue One worked quite well with their scores. But there the composers obviously understood what makes a Star Wars score a Star Wars score.

There is no roadblock at either Sony entity.
There never was one with Sony Pictures, and in recent months we've Legends Of The Fall expanded, Hook OST rebuild, and Field of Dreams expanded from Sony Music through the specialty labels.
-
Brando reacted to crumbs in The John Williams Expanded Score Master Spreadsheet
Yeah, and the secondary reason is that labels have seemingly hit a roadblock releasing expansions that involve Sony Music (or Sony Pictures, I forget which).
-
Brando reacted to Disco Stu in The John Williams Expanded Score Master Spreadsheet
Tha main reason is that scores recorded in LA from July 2005 on are prohibitively expensive to re-release due to a musicians union contract that took effect then

Couldn't find a spreadsheet with all JW's film scores and release status (expanded, unreleased, OST only, etc.), noting the Mike Matessino expansions.
This should be a helpful resource as we look towards future expansions.
I've left blank spaces next to scores I'm not familiar with.

Brando reacted to crumbs in Indiana Jones 5 Spoilers & Set Photos Thread
I'm convinced this is what happened. They just switched the schedules once Indy got delayed and Williams spent the last 3 months writing Fabelmans instead of Indy. I don't think anyone's expecting that score to be particularly involved anyway; in all likelihood he's close to finished.
So hopefully that'll be recorded in the next month and he'll start Indy in late Feb, after Mangold's had 4 weeks to polish his first cut. That gives JW 4 months to write the score before the likely first batch of sessions in June (hence all the concert cancellations that month).

Brando reacted to Jay in Remasters of the First 6 Star Wars Soundtracks now available (Shawn Murphy / Disney Records 2018)
I'm guessing someone at Sony Music clicked the wrong button somewhere and now they are selling a product on HDTracks they are not legally entitled to sell.

I will only breathe a sigh of relief when I see official confirmation that Williams is already recording the score.

Brando reacted to crumbs in New Spielberg movie: The Fabelmans (2022)
There's definitely some traction happening with the score. According to IMDB, there's now two music credits:
Mark Graham has worked on basically every JW score since The Phantom Menace (although he's only been head of music preparation in the last 10 years). I guess it's worth noting he also does Alan Silvestri's scores but not Thomas Newman's. Either way, the fact he's already involved (and by proxy, JoAnn Kane Music Service) could indicate the score is further along than we expected.
Music clearance indicates someone in charge of securing rights for existing music (like source music), which isn't surprising for a film set in this era.
