Brando reacted to Holko in THE EIGER SANCTION (1975) - 2021 2-CD Expanded Edition from Intrada Records
I hope it runs at the wrong speed, but inconsistently, that always spices this genre up.

Now that's just crazy talk. I don't normally choose violence but I'd smack someone upside the mouth

They probably leaked that 30 CD Star Wars boxset as well and none of us noticed!

Just curious, did you begin your familiarity with the chronological Intrada release or the OST album? I think I mentioned earlier that the album arrangement is really splendid.
There are some really underrated moments that don’t get mentioned too.
The latter half of “Sean’s Rescue” is just lovely with its strained optimism and hopeful serenity.
The strong punctuated trombones about a minute into “Catching the Cable” (dialed out in the film) recall some of the brass used in the Krypton and (construction of the) Fortress of Solitude from Superman.
i just love “Rescue Party” (dialed out in the film) which was the second half of “Brody Misunderstood “ on the OST. It’s noble, emotional, and somehow evocative of the ocean.
But, yeah, if you don’t love Jaws 2 as much as the original, you’re still awesome because you love the original.

Brando got a reaction from Andy in Jaws 2 (1978) - 2015 2-CD Expanded by Intrada Records!
What are your thoughts on "The Big Jolt"? The last minute and a half when the shark is chasing Brody down with the fast paced shark theme is brilliant.

Oh, definitely the best moment in the whole score. But The Big Jolt is still Fight With the Fighters, while Blown to Bits is Into the Trap...

Hey, @Falstaft: no idea what exactly it is yet, but the first movement is titled ‘Psalm of the Sith’!

Brando reacted to Andy in The Home Alone Conspiracy
It’s minutia like this that completely redeem the internet for me!
Not gonna lie, it would be a cool “Easter egg” to have at the very end of the CD (or playlist) after some seconds of silence.

And we're missing the twinkle stinger when Harry the policeman winks at Kevin and his golden tooth flashes early in the movie.

Brando reacted to bollemanneke in The Home Alone Conspiracy
There's also the chimes missing just after Kevin's parents have left. We're missing the bells mixed into Setting The Trap too. We're missing Mr Grinch as well. In short, a deeply flawed release.

Brando reacted to Disco Stu in The Home Alone Conspiracy
He's inhabiting the role of Harry when he's whistling there! Harry would be a mediocre whistler for sure. Williams is a master whistle-actor. We can now say Harry is a character brought to life by Joe Pesci and John Williams.

Brando reacted to bollemanneke in The Home Alone Conspiracy
IT IS ALREADY INCOMPLETE! THE POLKA, THE POLKA! But seriously I want the polka, not the whistling. The first part of that theme is really unclear. He needs to whistle it again.

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME???
John Candy Deck the Halls polka

Brando reacted to QuartalHarmony in The Home Alone Conspiracy
How long before someone declares the Home Alone ‘complete’ edition incomplete and totally unsatisfactory until it’s rereleased with this snippet included?
Bonus points if it’s expressed in the form of furious rhetoric about how unforgivable the omission was and how their life will be unbearable until a properly Complete edition is released.

If you listen to Maurizio's podcast, you will learn who did the whistling in some other scores!

Mike Matessino just confirmed on the latest episode of Maurizio's podcast that this was in fact John Williams himself whistling the villain theme!

Brando reacted to HunterTech in What is your favorite James Newton Howard fantasy score for Disney?
It's been in official Disney commercials as well:
As for the poll itself, I really only have watching Raya to go off of in terms of his Disney entries, plus all the times I've tried clicking with Maleficent to no avail. Definitely would love to answer once I get more familiar.

Brando reacted to HunterTech in Anakin's Theme
I'm very much in a similar boat. I specifically remember my mother telling me I wasted my money after I had bought my first score CD (the Rhino release of Superman). Even within some of the online communities I'm in, it's very difficult to foster much interest in the subject, given everyone would come from very different musical tastes and media backgrounds. Hell, I sort of lost touch with some of my older film score buddies, given things tended to be in a limited wheelhouse more often.
So while I'm still relatively unfamiliar with a lot of stuff out there (hence my more modern palette currently), I'm quite happy to be around people who have heard a lot and can happily point to favorite works of theirs. Even if I don't get to them immediately or enjoy it on the first listen, it feels very nice being around like minded people.

Brando reacted to Indianagirl in Anakin's Theme
Although I get busy and sidetracked a lot. I'm so glad this community exists. I don't know a single person in my personal life who appreciates film scores. I keep it as sort of a hidden personal secret. You all are so way much more knowledgeable than I am. This is a great place to come and just learn.
I used to be underwhelmed with Anakins theme. But listening now, years later, I truly appreciate it for being the childlike yet richly emotional theme that it is. I'm not very good at describing what a piece of music feels like to me but I have grown to love this theme.

Brando reacted to mrbellamy in The "(Fill in the Blank) Has Died" Thread
He has said he's worked stuff out on walks or on the golf course, hasn't he? Maybe his inner ear is trained enough that he doesn't really need to hum or whistle but it is funny to imagine him just idly wandering around going "Do do do do" for something as complex as his new violin concerto.
