Nah. It doesn't matter if it's only one Dollar, Pound or Euro, it's all in good fun and for a good cause!  I leave it to each participant to use their best judgement as to how generous they wish to be. It's a way to give back to something JW cares about, after all he's given to us.

Nice that he'll be going full circle, with ROTJ being his first ever job.

Yes he did! He orchestrated "Vadar's Death", which according to him was his first gig in the industry.

Shawn Levy sat down with Kevin McCarthy (one of the best film journalists/interviewers who recently started his own podcast), and revealed that Thomas Newman will be doing the score for Star Wars: Straighter! In the interview clip above where the news is dropped, Levy makes clear that he wants the score to follow Williams' lead on having distinctive themes, but with its own musical identity that's classically inspired, but without being remixes of Williams cues:

I own 165 4ks and from what I remember I returned just one for constant glitches.
Others may have had glitches during playback, but when wiped with a microfiber cloth, all was OK afterwards!

On a positive note La La Land have a 12% discount on everything including this three. Plus Hook, Spider-Man 1 and 2, Gorky Park and Star Trek 2 is back in Stock.

I figured out what "The Bond SItuation" was referring to, and do remember this now.

It was when they surprise-announced "Live and Let Die" and "Octopussy" on Christmas Eve, 2023, after just having had a big Black Friday batch (Hook, Sneakers, Zorro, Topaz, Moment to Moment) a month prior.

Both product pages said "Starts shipping January 16th" right on them, but then they later found out that Octopussy was delayed, and it ultimately did not start shipping until around February 19th, 2024.  Here's the text of MV's posts about all of this.

So in summary, they decided to put them up for sale on Dec 24, 2023 knowing they wouldn't ship until January 16, 2024, but then Octopussy got delayed, and they regretted putting them up for sale early, because if they waited until the week of January 16th to announce, they could have either announced Octopussy separately instead of on the same day, or put "begins shipping February 19th" on the Octopussy product page, so people would know if they ordered both together, both would be shipped then.

It seems ever since, they don't put stuff up for sale until they've gotten past any potential delays, IE the product is imminently arriving.

The whole point is that the other titles are not approved yet, so could still never even come out at all.  Once they get approved, they can put them up for sale, but not until then.

I know of one title - this was many years ago now - that was all the way at the pressing plant about to be pressed before the studio changed their minds and un-approved it and now it will probably never come out.  This title was fully funded, elements transferred, program done, audio mastered, liner notes written, booklet completely finished, the materials were all at the pressing plant, and it was still canceled.  Nothing's a guarantee until the first batch of product is in their hands.

That too.  People are already mad at Varese for announcing and taking our money for Medicine Man and Timeline in November knowing that they won't ship until January.  Imagine if LLL announced huge, high profile titles today without even knowing when they might get approved, or even if they ever will ever get approved at all... people would never forgive them for something like that.

Because then people would bitch at them for weeks or months while they're just waiting for the last clueless studio idiot to sign the last pointless piece of paper or for the manufacturing plant to free up or for JW and Spielberg to have free time while doing the new movie.

Ah then yeah that won’t be easy. But, I have had very good results with all of my 4K copies, the only issue I’ve had more than once is receiving a package and the disc isn’t clicked into place in the box and it’s sliding around in the case. those discs end up being fine, but there’s always a possibility of a scratch.

They were also talking about the "O Holy Night" alternate in relation to the temp, so it would make sense if Williams wrote an "O Holy Night" version of the ending because that was in their temp and he thought they might prefer that (it might have even been specifically requested) and he could still justify it in the score as a nice thematic tie back to Kevin and Marley at the church. But then he also probably wanted to advocate for "Somewhere in My Memory" so he prepared two versions.

That might also be what directors love about Williams and why it could be hard for Columbus to remember giving any notes, if Williams was opening conversations like that himself.

    Fascinating conversation!

Chris Columbus talks about how the finale originally used "O Holy Night", and was struggling to remember if its still in the film or not.  Tim then just says "yeah" and doesn't say that the LLL edition finally gave us that O Holy Night finale version after 25 years, and that the film does have a rewrite that used his own "Somewhere In My Memory" theme instead of "O Holy Night".  D'oh!

Columbus says he was unable to attend any of the scoring sessions because he was busy filming "Only The Lonely".  I've never even heard of this movie, but I looked it up and it opened in theaters only 6 months after Home Alone, wow!

Columbus also says he didn't give Williams any notes, because he didn't have to, because everything was so perfect.  But then why was the finale cue completely changed, Chris, who asked for a rewrite?

He does say he spotted the film with John at least, even though he sort of dipped out of the rest of the post production process because of his next film it seems like.

I just ripped the Aliens blu-ray from 2011 and despite meh colour timing, the grain is nicely intact, so that's the one I'm sticking with. I also have a 35mm scan of True Lies that's better than any official HD release.
