  1. Thats fantastic! Havent heard a lot of his work, but seems like a decent chap and worth seeing in that venue. Glad you got to go.
  2. What - not indiana jones!??? or Ryan????? What the hey!!!! 😉 I just got tickets cos in fact, I am very keen to hear JW's work performed by the quintessential LSO and the conductor who JW hand picked to perform his work. i think this is going to be amazing and everyone who is going, is going to have an amazing night. John - you will me missed, but not forgotten. Get well soon. We dont care how long it takes. I DONT KNOW WHO IS STILL READING THIS THREAD - BUT PLEASE TELL ME THE SIGNED CARD AT THE PRE SHOW MEET UP IS HAPPENING. Cos it needs to happen. And will be a massive deal/impact. And should happen. And just do it. And raise a glass at the venue to Mr W. I AM PRACTICING MY WILD SIGNALS RIGHT NOW TO SING ALONG WITH YOU ALL!!!
  3. He gave it a shot. He is a professional. He took an educated and thought out approach to it cos he's been around awhile. Yes - he could've stayed in LA and had a concert there to which you could buy tickets and a flight to, stayed in a hotel and gone to Disneyland then listened to on repeats on Classical FM. I honestly don't get this chain of reasoning, its like some form of cognitive dissonance.
  4. I think you have to give JW and his team credit for being ADULTS and PROFESSIONALS who know what they are doing and had done all they could to make this event happen, and I can imagine, make it comfortable/enjoyable/paced properly for JW and his concert team. No one involved was trying to make this harder than it needed to be, I would imagine it was the complete reverse. Asking about why didn't they do this or why didn't they do that is pointless - even if it looks obvious to you that it should've been done a certain way - this is not their first rodeo, and there are probably a million variables/complications involved that we don't know about. End of the day, the guy gave it a shot based on best endeavours and due to factors out of their control it didn't work out. It can happen with any gig or tour....... Well - not really - but you've been a member of the forum for a helluva lot longer than me so will take your comments as a correction I deserved.
  5. Best wishes for a full recovery. Kia Kaha JW. For me, the two Empires were the greatest works. Empire Of The Sun was a masterwork, it held that journey together and gave it tone and grounding. I listened to the other Empire on original LP until the needle wore out back in the 80s. For the limited time he had to prepare that soundtrack (Weeks!), it must have the highest ROI of any soundtrack ever produced. Genius.
  6. How exactly is that the case? I think that is a tad unfair. What I said was that the pricing does not reflect the nature of the new concert - £2k for a loggia box seat? Cmon. That's not in line with what SW in concert seats or other Williams concerts currently price at for the venue. Sorry if that came across as being on the nose. If you meant the comment I made about folks upgrading their seats if they are attending - that's about the fact that a lot of fans got whatever seats they could at the time and sometimes not what they wanted, and if they are coming from far away or spending a lot to attend they may want to opt for better seats now there are some returns or just ask RAH on the night. To make the most of their evening. Cos they came a long way. Ironically - your comments appear to self righteously scold others for a completely imagined injustice.....
  7. What exactly do "blank avatars" do? So.............. why are RAH insisting on keeping their insance price tiers on the show when the main drawcard of seeing JW in person is no longer part of the package? I was hoping some of the premium tickets would come down to "normal RAH" prices for example, like the HP3 concert or SW concert this year. But no, the pricing is the same as earlier: £80.00 £85.00 £90.00 £95.00 £249.00 (Stalls Fine Dining) £2232.00 (Loggia Package) £1116.04 (2nd Tier Package) Not sure I can afford £2K to see the new conductor albeit he looks like he is a good guy.
  8. Singing hope you get well soon to Ce3K is a brilliant idea, and if not in concert, post it on the twitter/instagram from the pre meeting! Laughter is the best medicine, JW will get a kick out it for sure. Besides - you guys need the singing practice.... ;-)
  9. Quite interestingly - sites like StubHub, Viagogo etc have tickets still listed even with the rider he is not appearing, for several hundred pounds above face value. Viagogo was stating that tickets worth £400 had "just sold" and showed updates of sales in progress - I know its a complete scam from the get go, but its just amazing that it does this directly to entice a quick sale/rally up the pressure on buyers generally. Keep away from them I say. I wonder if RAH is offering any kind of promo code or discount /reduced price? seems to be a lot of primary boxes and such empty. Would encourage everyone with tickets to ask for an upgrade on the night, or prior, if they are inconvenienced - I suspect the main desk would do it just before the gig starts. In the past I have asked about an upgrade and got it (well - once - this was for the Giacchino 50th concert, which was awesome).
  10. If the rumors around the Superman movie fiasco in 2006 are to be believed, he is a lot more hardnosed that you would think - guess you have to be in the movie bizzz
  11. Via management they may accept it. Someone here had a contact at LSO so maybe find a route that way? That is a VERY good idea to do it at the pre meet - the meetup is the ideal place to get this done, and those fan are the ones who can put it into the right words.
