    Good Evening,

Hope folks had a good time at the concert today (18.01.20).

I am attending tomorrow (19.01.20) with my girlfriend and I am unsure of the expectations regarding dress. I have brought a dinner suit (bow tie etc.) and fully anticipated wearing it, but, don’t want to look completely out of place if no one else did today!

I would be grateful if you could let me know if a dinner suit is too much...

    Regards,

    Liam.

I saw someone walking around in a black metal hoodie, another in a Jurassic Park shirt, one with a star wars shirt and one with a dinner jacket made to look like a musical sheet/notes. You'll be fine!

I would have prefered an email kind of "You bought tickets for 2018, so you are able to buy this time before the general public"...

I joined as a member last year and they sent me an email this week saying 'even if your membership has elapsed for 2019/20 you can still buy tickets for the rescheduled event'. So they were half-way there.

There will probably be an encore, and the Raiders March could re-appear there. They played that as an encore during the LSO concert at RAH last year.

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD. I'm just unbelievably excited about this (again). I'm trying to temper my expectations following last year but I can't. The guy's clearly absolutely determined to do this before he retires! This is my  one and only chance

  4. Very disappointed to have lost the Raiders March, but it's been my lifelong dream to see JW conduct the Jurassic Park theme. I will cry tears of joy and I'm not even exaggerating.

Rotten timing being away while this happened. I didn't bother with the membership figuring I'd miss the tickets with the unpredictable wifi here. I'll try for Thursday on the assumption there's good tickets left.

Can anyone confirm the exact time they go on sale on their website, with time zone?

8am UK time if that helps. Most decent tickets have gone, so I'd be prompt with whatever's left when it does go on sale.

I have to buy tickets on my phone so who knows what I'll be able to select. Do you get to choose the actual seat or is just assigned to you randomly?

Both. You can choose 'best seats' which auto allocates or choose tickets on a 3d map of the venue.

And which seating categories should I go for if I want a seat in the front seating section, front row, or front row of the balcony towards to the front of the theatre? Or are those seats basically all gone now?

I could sort you one if you want (I have a membership)...

  5. I noticed when last year's Vienna shows were scheduled Itzhak Perlman was due to perform at the Musikverein on the same day as the first JW performance, though it stated on the site a few days before the JW announcement that Perlman had cancelled. It would have been amazing if they'd have had performed together for that show!

Looks like he's in the US this time around :(

I might be interested, but wouldn't that be very complicated?

Slightly, I suppose. I should be able to have e-tickets sent to a different email address, I think. On top of that, there's the obvious aspect of you not knowing me and being wary of handing out funds to a stranger - which I obviously appreciate. Does anyone else know if a member's ticket purchase can be sent to a different email address?

It seems JW has updated the program for this concert in 2020 compared to  the cancelled one.

    Newly added:

    Sound the Bells

    Across the Stars

Donnybrook Fair from “Far and Away”

    Remembrances from “Schindler’s List”

Out to Sea / Shark Cage Fugue

    Love Theme from “Superman”

    Missing:

Suite from "Memoirs of a Geisha"

    Nimbus 2000 from "Harry Potter"
Harry's Wondrous World from "Harry Potter"

I much prefer the updated set we’re getting in 2020. :)

Absolutely, and with the Raiders March thrown in to kick off the second part. Nice!

  8. I've just had an email from the Vienna Musikverein to confirm that the cancelled dates from last year have bveen rescheduled for january 2020. Here's the email...

    Dear friends of music,

"A Tribute to John Williams" - under this title, the concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra which was scheduled for last year will take place on 18th and 19th of January 2020 at the Wiener Musikverein. We are pleased to announce the commitment of John Williams to perform selected highlights from his rich musical output with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a ticket purchaser of the cancelled concert from last November, we wanted to inform you, exclusively before the official release date on October 22, 2019, that the concerts will take place.

Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 09.00h (start of the general presale)

Concert tickets can be purchased at www.musikverein.at or in person / by telephone at the Konzertkassa of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde.

    The two concert dates are:

    Saturday, 18 January 2020 at 15.30

    Sunday, 19 January 2020 at 11.00

We would be happy to welcome you to one of the two concerts at the Musikverein.

I AM SO EXCITED I'VE BEEN PLAYING HIS SONGS IN THE OFFICE AT A HORRIFICALLY UNACCEPTABLE VOLUME. EVERYONE HATES ME NOW.

Edit - I've seen it's been posted elsewhere, how can I delete this post?
